A/N: I'm so sorry that I've been away for so long! School has been very unkind to my writing, even though, I've wanted to write this forever. I thought it up in orchestra (I'm such a dork) when I was playing a piece (La Folia) hence the title of this fic. Thanks for reading.

The alchemist stood on the wooden floor, looking for any life in the seemingly abandoned city but seeing none, he slid, with his back to a pillar, to the floor and he sighed heavily out of exhaustion and an indescribable, but tiny, emptiness. All the way down into nowhere for nothing. After a few minutes, the young alchemist began on an intense train of thought, no noticing anything, as if there was anything to notice in particular. What had drawn Edward to the mansion in the first place was the resonating sound of a symphonic orchestra, playing a gorgeous baroque melody that was dripping with mysterious romance. But the real question was what had led him down there in the first place…

Suddenly, Edward was pulled from thought when a hand appeared in front of him. He looked up with a haze over his eyes, almost as if he was seeing past the Homunculus, who stood in front of him, but Envy's glance was cast downward at the floor and it appeared as if he was blushing, then he looked up and maintained a distracted look, as if he was looking through the alchemist, too. Edward made a quick glance at the floor as well before he hesitantly took hold of Envy's hand

Envy's strong grasp pulled Edward off the floor and guided him to the center of the ballroom. All of the mezzanines were empty and the stage was absent of an orchestra or dancers, but this all went unnoticed as they idly bowed. It seemed that there was an unknown synchronicity between the pair as they raised their hands to meet the other's in unison, and just during the slightest pause, they gazed up at each other, then looked away and started to dance.

The pair moved along to the rhythm, keeping their feet in pace and letting the tempo glide through them at first appearing as if they were directed and driven by it. The emotion in their eyes changed with the melodies while they gracefully waltzed across the floor holding each other. They danced and danced, moving steadily across the large ballroom. They paused whenever the movements of the piece changed, all the while, not saying a word to each other. The dipped, bended and twisted the other, in turn to the melody's whim, letting it freely take possession of their souls.

Soon they came out of trance and fully aware of each other and from their more formal position, they got closer and the dance became all slightly more erotic. Edward leaned his head on Envy's chest and the homunculus's hair cascaded over the two of the, creating a veil over their faces. Their steps were ever so light hinting the slightest drop of passion.

They unified with music and became one with the beat. The brisk violin gave them a lighter stroke of foot and all the while, the Viola and Cello painted a beautiful morose tone to the picture of the complex and yet simple dance that the two took part in.

The beat became all suddenly quicker and brought them into a whirl. The melody that was slanted to be all that little bit faster, made it appear as if the two dancers were not on the floor, but gliding across it, nonetheless, still passionately. The rhythm suddenly came to an almost stressful pace hinted with love and glided them into the ending climax of the beautifully painted picture that was the dance they danced.
