AN: This was just something small I came up with today in English. Amazing how being bored can inspire you! This is pretty simple, a bit basic. It's not my best, but I hope you enjoy it nevertheless. Please R&R!
Somewhere during the middle of the night, Arthur was woken up by a particularly loud clap of thunder. It had been pouring rain for almost a day in a half now, although the lightning and thunder had just recently begun.
Sighing, England rolled over and watched as the rain continued to fall outside, creating a pattering sound on the window.
Though he did not want to admit it, he was exhausted. Raising America, despite bringing him more happiness than he realized, also exhausted him. The little colony had just so much energy. A smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, Arthur climbed out of bed and walked to the window, pulling the heavy curtains down to cover the glass.
Behind him, the door began to slowly creak open. Turning, England felt himself begin to smile as the little colony entered, almost cautiously.
"C-can I sleep in here with you, Britain?" Little Alfred stammered. Smiling, Arthur walked over to little America and kneeled so he was at eye level with the young colony.
"You are not scared, are you America?"
"N-no!" The young boy cried indignantly. Outside, the lightning flashed, with a louder clap of thunder following a few seconds later. Alfred jumped and hugged England tightly, burying his face in the larger country's shoulder.
"Shhh," Arthur rubbed the small colony's back and lifted him up, carrying him over to the bed. After setting the boy down, the larger country crawled into bed as well.
Almost immediately, Alfred was fast asleep, snoring softly. England closed his eyes and sighed in contentment as he listened to the little colony's breathing. Oh, how raising America was changing him, he realized before drifting off to sleep as well, the storm outside lightening up.
