Yamamoto didn't have a lot to remember his mom by.

He had her words of wisdom, memories of her love, her love of baseball, and the only tangible item he had to remember his mom by, her bat.

His mother had played a lot when she was younger, it was how she had met his dad. She was celebrating with her team after a successful game and they decided to get sushi as a treat for their victory. Yamasushi to be exact.

His dad had been learning from his grandfather at the time. He had been flirting and not paying attention when he had accidentally put way too much wasabi in his mother's order.

When his mom had taken that destined bite of tuna she ended up crying for tea which his dad brought over, once she was done fanning her tongue the two got to talking.

His dad proposed to her at a baseball game.

His mom made a deal that if her favorite team won they would try for kids.

His whole existence was due to one sport, and his mother gave him her old bat in hopes that he would be able to forge his own destiny.

"I-I'm so sorry." Tsuna managed, her voice pathetic as Yamamoto examined the newly broken bat, only a few minutes ago his beloved favorite bat had been perfectly whole and undamaged, now he doubted that he could ever use it again.

An assassin had come for Tsuna, like the morons always did ever since her official acceptance as the ninth's heir. The brunette hadn't had time to defend herself from the sudden, unprovoked attack so it was up to him, her Rain guardian to protect her.

The only thing he had on hand was the bat his mother had given him right before she had gotten sick.

It snapped in half, but the bastard was sent flying and landed in an unconscious heap outside where Reborn finished him off.

"Takeshi, I'm so so sorry." Tsuna hiccupped, he saw tears coming out of her pretty eyes.

He walked forward, placing the broken bat on the ground, "Don't cry Tsuna." he smiled one of his hands found itself tangled in her hair, the other wiping away a tear that had dared to fall. "My mom got it to help me accomplish my dream." he smiled.

"B-but you broke it protecting me." Tsuna sniffled, valiantly trying to master her tears.

"I know, I think it served it's purpose nicely."
