Norun's Bow
She stood in the human world, in the wind.
It was a confusing place for her. Her body and clothes matched, but nothing else did. She didn't even know what to do with the extra bits. The bits flapping around. Some of it was getting in her face though.
She fiddled around with the one over her heart. That big floppy…thing. Though it looked cute she conceded. Unfortunately, that was all she could say about it. And it was a trifle too big since it was poking her chin.
'Here,' someone said suddenly. 'Let me help.'
And then someone was fiddling around with it, with more practised fingers than hers. And it stopped tickling her chin.
'Thank you,' she said.
Surprisingly, the speaker – who she now realised was a human boy – blushed and stumbled backwards. 'I'm sorry!' He waved his arms in the air. 'I just – saw you were struggling with that, and – well – I didn't mean to – '
His babbling didn't make much sense to her, though she understood the words. She supposed it must have been a human thing, she decided.
It was a good chance to learn more about them, anyway.
'My name's Norun,' she said brightly.
'Kahara Shou,' the boy replied, looking even more surprised.
She wondered if she'd done something wrong.
It would take her a while to get the hang of Japanese customs.
