Just a Dream
Cuddles lay silently in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. Lying next to him was his girlfriend, Giggles. He glanced over at his alarm clock. 3:26 AM, it read. I shouldn't be awake, Cuddles thought. He then looked at Giggles. She was sleeping so peacefully. Correction: He didn't want to be awake yet. He was already wide awake, so he decided to get a drink of water before he went back to bed. He lazily and silently climbed out of bed, slid his feet into his pink bunny slippers, and leisurely walked into the bathroom. He then took one of the disposable cups, filled it with water, and took a long, cold drink. He was thirstier than he thought. He felt the cold, crisp liquid travel all the way from his mouth to his stomach. He sighed heavily, and started to walk back to the bed, but then, he heard a noise that made him freeze in his tracks. It sounded like the sound of someone walking, and it was getting closer. He started to panic. He was as quiet as he could've been when he got up. He decided to take a risk, and peer outside. He looked around, and saw no one. He saw Giggles still sleeping peacefully in their bed. He then sighed, wiping the cold sweat from his canary-yellow fur. He then walked over back to the bed, kicked off his pink bunny slippers, and slid back into bed with Giggles.
"Hey, Cuddles," Giggles whispered into his ear. Cuddles let out a yelp. He had been so quiet…
"Yes, Giggles?" Cuddles responded.
"I've wanted to say this for a long time…" Giggles started nervously. She wiped some sweat off of her bright pink fur.
"What is it?" Cuddles asked. Giggles then pulled him closer, and pressed her lips against his. Cuddles' gasped with surprise, but then subtlety let out a long sigh of contentment. He felt his entire body relax. All of the muscles from his tall ears down to his feet. As the kiss deepened, Cuddles started to think how much they've done with each other; how much they've been together. But then, suddenly, Handy, Cuddles' best male friend flew into Cuddles' bedroom.
"Cuddles!" he shouted. Cuddles and Giggles both screamed with shock and terror. "Cuddles, I need to talk to you!" shouted the orange-furred beaver. The duo screamed even louder.
Just then, there was a bright flash of light, and Cuddles found himself in Handy's house, sitting at a table, with a bunch of blueprints in front of him.
"Cuddles, are you going to stay awake?" Handy asked on the other side of the table. "This is your house that is being built here!" Cuddles then looked around. No bed. No Giggles. No Kiss. No romance. Cuddles let out a depressed sigh.
"What's wrong?" Handy asked curiously.
"Oh, nothing, Handy," Cuddles said. If only that dream was real…
"By the way, I got the mail while you were sleeping, and there is a letter addressed to you," Handy said. "Do you want to read it?"
"Sure, Handy," Cuddles said in his depressed mood. He took the letter, and opened it. It was from Giggles! He read it to himself.
Dear Cuddles, It's been a while since we've seen each other, so I made a reservation for 2 at The New Leaf at 6:30 tonight. Call me back if you can make it. Hope to see you there! ~Giggles
Cuddles' face lit up as he read the note. He then turned to Handy. "Handy, can I borrow your car tonight?" he asked.
