I sit in my living room, staring at the TV. President Snow is annoucing what twist there will be for this year's Hunger Games. He digs in a bowl and grabs a small paper. In his microphone, he says, "This year, only females will be reaped." My jaw drops. That means all males from the ages 12-18 are safe this year. Only 24 girls will be reaped instead of the usual 12 boys and 12 girls. "This year's games will be interesting." my mother remarks. My sister and I nod. This year is the 50th Hunger Games, which means it's the second Quarter Quell. My sister and I are not safe. I am 14, and she is 17. All we can hope for is that the odds are in our favor tomorrow at The Reaping.
