Emily and Hotch dated for two weeks. One day, they were sitting in Hotch's apartment, watching a movie. After the movie ended, they decided to talk.

"Emily?"

"Yea, Aaron?"

"I need to tell you something."

"Yeah?"

"Well... I think we should break up. I don't really think we belong together."

"Okay. Fine. Goodbye, Hotch." Emily stood up and walked out of his apartment.

She was getting tired of being dumped by guys for no reason. It was just so complicated. She thought she should give up on guys forever.

Emily drove home. She sat one her couch and cried. She held her phone, hoping he would call and take back what he said.

The next day at work, Hotch called her into his office. He could tell she had been crying.

"Emily, are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm fine, Hotch."

"Okay. Well... I hope you aren't upset about you and I."
"No. I'm completely fine. There is no you and I as far as I'm concerned."

With that, Emily walked out of his office and into the break room.

I'd be fine if you just walked by,
But you had to talk about why you were wrong and I was right.

Emily walked into the break room and broke down crying. She hadn't noticed Reid was standing right near her.

"Emily, are you okay?"

"Oh. Reid. Yeah, I'm fine." She said, wiping away her tears.

"What happened?"

"Hotch and I broke up. And he doesn't even care how hurt I am."

"Oh, Emily. I'm so sorry." Reid walked over and hugged her.

"Thanks, Reid."

"Just trying to help. Um... it's actually a good thing you two broke up."

"What are you talking about?" She asked, confused.

"Well, it might give us a chance."

"What?"

"I love you, Emily. I've loved you ever since you started working here."

"Reid. I'm speechless. I didn't know. Maybe I will give us a chance."

"I'm so happy to hear that, Emily."

A year later, Emily and Reid had been seeing each other every day. Hotch didn't know they were dating, and Emily didn't plan to tell him. One day, Hotch called Emily into his office, again.

"Emily, can you please forgive me? I didn't mean what I said. I want to be with you."

"I'm sorry, Hotch. I don't want to be a part of your little game. We are never going to make up."

"Emily, I-" Hotch stopped when he noticed the ring on Emily's left hand.

"You're engaged?" He asked, shocked.

"Yes. You lost your chance. I've found someone a lot better."

"Can I ask you who he is?"

"Yes. It's Spencer." Emily walked out of his office and over to Spencer. She knew Hotch was looking, so she leaned over and kissed Spencer.
