"Yer gonna wanna put this on, Spock." Jim said, handing the large black garment, which was previously refused, to his first officer.
"I fail to see the logic behind wearing a garment that is historically reserved for Terran children and game hunters."
"Spock, I can't make you wear it, but I'm telling you, once we land you're going to want to."
"How can you, Captain, know my own desires if I have not voiced them?" Kirk sighed,
"Is It still coming down?"
"Eighteen inches and risin' Cap'n." Scotty confirmed, not looking at the other man. "its nearly record beakin' for th'area." He confirmed
"Captain, I have experienced copious amounts of precipitation before and can recall no occasion in which I had wished to wear this." Spock announced, inspecting one of the black mittens that attached to the 'snow bib' as Jim had so kindly called it.
Despite his protests, before the shuttle reached the ground Spock had put on the offending garment along with a pair of black waterproof, insulated boots and a thermal hat decorated with the Starfleet insignia. The mittens, attached to the snow bib, hung at his sides.
"Put this on too." Bones did, handing a dark blue coat to Spock.
"My body temperature has already risen beyond what is comfortable to me, even as a Vulcan. I would rather not, Doctor." He said, still lacing one boot.
"Well, it wont be outside." Bones said, clutching an overhead rail for stability as he fought off motion sickness during landing with his eyes firmly shut. Though Spock was often inclined to "argue" with the good Doctor, he knew Jim valued the older man's opinion, and therefore took the blue garment and put it on, zipping it up to his neck. Spock grabbed a rail as well as the shuttle rocked and shook with a less-than-smooth landing. They were landing outside in a field since they could not reach the shuttle bay because of the weather. The door opened and Spock could feel the cold air invade their shuttle. He watched as the seven crewmembers filed out quickly and he was the last to exit, following the Captain.
He stepped directly into nearly two feet of frozen precipitation. Snow. The white stuff blanketed the world around the crew as they stood outside. It continued to come down in big, silent flakes, and even Spock had to agree that their surroundings were asthetically pleasing. As Spock stood next to his Captain, he became aware of the othe crewmwmbwers grinning and looking at Kirk. He shrugged and announced, "Fine, go play." And it only took those few words for the crewmembers to scatter, throwing compacted balls of ice at each other. Spock remained at his Captain's side.
"Something wrong, Spock?" Jim asked, stepping so that his shoulder was against the first officer's
"I now understand the Standard colloquialism Winter Wonderland."
"That's right, Spock, it sure is." Jim spoke, then turned to Spock, allowing them a tender kiss while the crew was distracted.
