Bow Trouble
"Sing mommy." Jasmine told Jackie as Jackie sat in the middle of the living room wrapping a present for her friend and teaching partner Sue Anderson.
If teachers at Jackie's school wanted they could be apart of the staff secret Santa exchange and Jackie did it every year because she thought it was a ton of fun.
This year she had drawn her good friend and teaching partner to buy for and she knew just what to get her, Sue was obsessed with lotions and smelly hand sanitizer so Jackie had brought her a huge basket of different ones.
Now all she had to do was wrap it.
She did just that in the middle of the living room floor.
She turned the TV to a music station so the kids would be entertained at the same time.
Jackie sang softly to the song that was playing and the kids danced goofily around.
"Look mama, me dance with baby Hundy." Sloan told her as he grabbed his baby sister's hands.
"That's nice sweetheart but do it very easy so she doesn't fall." Jackie told him with a smile.
The baby had recently learned how to stand and she could even take a couple steps but she wasn't very steady yet.
After she had finished wrapping her gift Jackie immediately grabbed the scissors and went out to the kitchen to put it back in the drawer where it was kept so the kids wouldn't get a hold of it.
"Mama, Hundy bad." Johnna said as she came out into the kitchen.
Jackie immediately went back into the living room.
There, right in the middle of the living room sat Hundley with a big smile on her face and the bow that Jackie had just put on Sue's gift in her little hands.
"Hundley, you little stinker, that's not yours." Jackie told her.
Jackie had been so concerned about getting the scissors out of the kids' reach she didn't even think about moving the actual present away from them.
Jackie shook her head and then went over to her pack of bows and put another one on Sue's gift, luckily the wrapping paper didn't have a hole in it where the other bow had been removed or she would have had to wrap it all over again.
Hundley saw the big bag of bows and made a beeline for them.
"No, nice try." Jackie said as she moved the bag of bows right before the baby reached them.
Hundley started to cry in protest.
"Here, play with this one." Jackie told her as she handed her the one that had been on the present in the first place.
Hundley grinned happily and immediately stuck the bow in her mouth.
"Icky, don't put it in your mouth." Jackie told her as she gently moved the bow away from Hundley's lips.
Hundley gave her the stink eye.
"Who is that?" Jackie asked the infant as she pointed to Hundley's reflection in the bow.
The baby grinned at herself.
"Who is that?" Jackie again asked her with a chuckle.
"Gah gah gah." The baby babbled happily.
Jackie wasn't sure who gah gah gah was but whoever it was Hundley sure liked them.
The front door opened and Nick walked in. The kids all ran at him and Hundley crawled towards him still grasping the bow in her hand.
Hundley shoved the bow in Nick's face the second he had picked her up.
"Thank you princess." He told the infant with a smile.
"Why is it all wet?" He asked as he looked at Jackie.
"Baby slobber." Jackie answered.
Nick laughed.
"Good, for a second I figured she had dunked it in the toilet." Jackie laughed.
While the kids were occupied Jackie took the gift and the bag of bows out of the room so Hundley couldn't get to them.
One thing was for sure, if you didn't want her getting her little hands on things then you'd better move them to where she couldn't reach them or she figured they were hers!
The End!
