Lloyd couldn't do it. He couldn't defeat this beast. Not with what he was hearing from it. "Your friends are dead! Trying to fight me! They are dead! What makes you think you'll last much longer?" dead? They were dead? Lloyd didn't know if it was true.
"No! It's not true. They're ninja! A ninja never quits!" the monster he was fighting laughed.
"Oh really? Than what is that?" suddenly Lloyd was looking through its eyes. He saw Cole. He was half transformed, but still fighting, with all his might. But the strain was hurting him, causing him pain. Suddenly, he fell forward, one hand on his heart. Lloyd watched in horror. Come on Cole. Get up. You can fight it. You're the strongest guy I know. Come on. But Cole couldn't fight it. The young man fell forward, not moving, not breathing. He was dead.
Lloyd then saw Jay. With a cry of agony, the ginger teen fell to his knees, his legs collapsing. Holding his head. He was in pain as well, but just like Cole, he was fighting it. Not you too! Come on Jay. But Jay didn't last either. The jokester's eyes opened wide as his heart strained, he couldn't fight this! His eyes rolled back into his skull as his heart beat one last time.
He saw Zane. He was helping Kai fight off his sister. "You are weak and in no condition to fight! Why even try?" Nya exclaimed. The boys ignored her. Lloyd could see the stress and strain on their faces and in their movements. Suddenly Nya shot. It hit Zane. It overrode his systems. He wasn't able to comprehend it. Zane fell over, smoke coming off of his chest.
Kai looked down at him. His brother was dead. In a burst of blinding rage he thrust his sword out. It hit something. Whatever it hit gave a cry of pain. Pulling his sword out he saw that he had stabbed Nya, his own little sister. The rage gone, Kai realized what he did. He looked his sword. The blood on it. His sister's blood. Kai was in shock. He stumbled around on the narrow staircase. He stumbled, and fell. Kai went over the edge, and fell to the bottom. He hit his head on the ground painfully. The sickening crunch of his skull hitting the pavement rang in Lloyd's ears.
It was true, they were all dead. Lloyd was encased in darkness, and he did his best to beat it. For his light to be bright enough. To win. But he felt himself slipping. He felt himself losing. His determination he had moments earlier was gone, as was his motivation. His light faltered. It flickered and faded. And then, it all went black.
