Okay I know this is late. But anyway, Happy (Belated) Birthday Artemis!!!

This was really unnecessary. The boy genius we all know thought as his family gathered around him singing the birthday song. But deep inside him, he knew that he was really enjoying this celebration. It wasn't every day someday turned 18. Although he was only physically 15. He got ready his wish as the song came to an end. He bent took in his breath, bent down slightly and got ready to blow the candles off when they went out.

"We wish Artemis would continue being the best brother in the world."

Artemis looked up only to see his two little twin brothers, Beckett and Myles smiling as they proclaimed their wish, having already blown out the candles. The rest of the family laughed at the two chubby Fowl twins. Even Artemis was smiling, although only slightly.

"Now let's open the presents! Open them Artemis! Open ours first!" Beckett and Myles said, as they pointed at a roughly wrapped present on the table while staring at him with puppy-dog eyes. Artemis just sat there dumbfounded.

"I guess the cake could wait," Angeline Fowl said in between her laughing fits of the Fowl twin's actions.

Artemis picked up the poorly wrapped present and opened it tentatively. By the state of the wrapping paper, the object being wrapped might be in the same poor state and spill out anytime. Luckily, the present happened to be a ceramic mug of a … unique shape. Perhaps the mug might not be able to stand at all. He smiled slightly, not at the Fowl twin's effort in making him a present but to ensure those proud smiles on their faces were not replaced by frowns and cries.

He got a tight fitting t-shirt from his mother, something she claimed was in fashion among teenagers. Apparently she didn't realize that this 'smiling tee', as Angeline said was its name, was going to hang in Artemis' closet unworn as this certain Fowl could not bear wearing a pink t-shirt with a large picture of a smiley covering the front around.

What he got from his father was more useful, for our Irish genius at least. His father had managed to get an organizer book made entirely out of fibers in elephant droppings. It saved trees from being cut down, something Artemis appreciated.

Butler managed to get Artemis a book on martial arts. It seemed that Domovoi wanted Artemis to learn some self-defense of his own since Butler was unable to protect him all the time, especially when Artemis was on his time-travelling adventures.

Juliet gave him a good luck charm, and like she did with her brother, she made him promise to always wear it.

At last, there was only one gift left. Artemis opened it carefully, wondering who else he knew had not given him a present. he was cut off when a gigantic lollipop fell out of the wrapping onto his lap. The sugar-filled lollipop. Colorful, sweet lollipop. Artemis could feel a lump in his throat. He struggled to press down he feeling, fighting the urge to tear open the plastic clinging onto the lollipop and stick it into his mouth. As did this, he stared at the lollipop, staring at it as if it was a … destructive and poisonous thing that would kill him.

"Sir, there's a note attached." Butler said, noticing his principal's glare and he knew what was going to happen if Artemis continued looking like that. And Artemis would not like it if he embarrassed himself, even if it was in front of his family. Artemis was broken from his sugar spell and diverted his attention to the note:

I told you I would give you a lollipop if you stayed a good mudboy. Happy Birthday! Holly.

Artemis smiled genuinely. Of course, his fairy friends would not have forgotten his birthday.
