Kyla shook her head and her wet hair sprinkled over everything. She was immensely nervous-- today she would be starting Hogwarts. She had been really surprised when she had gotten her letter, because she was actually too old to get in. Apparently, something had been wrong with the Ministry's Directory of Magical Folk, and it hadn't listed her until this summer. Kyla was scared that perhaps this meant that she really didn't have very much magic and that she would fail all of her classes.

Of course, to make up for their faulty system, the Ministry had bought all of her school books-- a good thing, because she really had no parents or relatives and could not buy them by herself-- and let her do Underage Magic so she could catch up. "Kyla Harriet Potter! Get yourself down here RIGHT NOW!" yelled a croaky, feminine voice from downstairs.

"Coming, Sister Margaret!" she called back down. She couldn't wait to get out of this hellhole of a Catholic boarding school-- as if she wanted to grow up and be a nun, honestly. Kyla looked in the mirror one last time, and she was satisfied: dark brown hair, green eyes, and perfect complexion. Except, of course, an odd scar behind her ear shaped like a lightning bolt. She had had it all of her life and nobody could tell her from what, or from where, or, as she reckoned-- from who.

She made sure her wand was safely in the pocket of her new pink skirt, grabbed the cat who was yowling and sitting on her chair, and rushed downstairs. "Sorry, Sister, I couldn't find Roddie," she explained, indicating her handsome white cat.

"Yes, sure, Kyla..." Sister Margaret said, once again pronouncing Kigh-lah, instead of Kee-la. A/N: That makes sense, doesn't it?

"Keee-la, Sister," moaned Kyla once again. "It's pronounced Keee-la."

"WhatEVER! Just get into the car!" They did, and off they were to King's Cross.

Heehee. I hope you like it!
