First fan fiction, I've always wondered what would happen if Jacob got a happily ever after. This is just what might happen if when Bella told him her choice he left, and found himself in another place. A place with more of his kind, but without the memories a place for fresh starts, new chances, and new first impressions. Feel free to critique in reviews, and without any further ado, please enjoy...

True Impressions
Prologue
Smiling, Bella got out of her faithful, if not worn, truck. For the first time in months she had set off for La Push. She closed the door behind her after rummaging around for a "Thank you" card. Jacob and Billy had been kind enough to send her a gift, even though they never planned to come to the wedding. She let out a half hearted sigh as she fingered the smooth silver cross Jacob had given her. It was beautiful, finely crafted silver with an amethyst set in the center, her favorite stone prior to meeting Edward.
Billy opened the door almost before Bella could knock. His eyes darkened for a moment, as though he was expecting someone else to be standing there. Bella smiled again, "Hey Billy is Jacob around?" she asked her dark chocolate eyes searching the room for her childhood friend.
"No," Billy answered almost sadly, as he stepped back to let her into the house, "he left."
"Oh…" Bella's smile vanished; she had a prickling suspicion that there was something more than the simple outing implied but ignored it. She sighed shifting her weight; she had been hopping to leave him on a better note. "Well, when he comes back, could you show him this?" Bella handed him the card, "I was really hopping to see him before we left…" she added softly, casting one final glance around the room.
"Ill tell him Bella," he sounded tired as he followed her to the door, "Be careful" he called as she closed the door her. Billy closed his eyes and put his hand to his forehead. Why did saying it make it seem so much more real? He wondered, but that changed nothing. Jacob had really left.
The dark haired boy hadn't said a word when he had finally returned from the Swan's residence; once he was through the door he collapsed on his too small bed and slept. That had been two weeks ago; he had left three days ago, and might as well have been gone during the days he had been home. He was like a shell, an angry sorrowful shell. The slightest thing could and often would set him off. Until finally he just decided to leave. He had left a note on the counter asking for time and forgiveness, and then he had left without a trace finally letting his anger and frustration taking over he let his form shiver into the strong proud rage of his wolf form. Blocking his mind he ran blindly away from his pain until he could make the fragments of his heart stop hurting.
The familiar backdrop of dark green and brown hues faded away in favor of depths of the forests that light barely touched, yet his pace never wavered as he sped on to get away from the reality that refused to make any sense. The ever present clouds growled above him threatening to rain as the last of his rage-filled outbursts died away. He had been running for hours, almost a full day and night, before all trace of energy left him. Breathless and as empty as he had ever felt he collapsed, his form rippled back into that of a human as he slumped back against the nearest tree bringing his knees up to his chest he rested his head on them slowly nodding off to sleep as rain began to seep through the canopy of trees above him.
