I thought I'd try my hand at a .hack fic. So here it is.
Disclaimer: I don't own .hack/Sign. I don't know who owns it, but it's certainly not me. So I'm not making money from this story. The only thing I know I own is the char Dark Rose.
A/N: I know this probably won't be the best fic. It's been a while since I've actually seen the series though I totally love the .hack saga. So go easy if I don't happen to get something right.
Dance of Falling Petals
Prologue
The game is called The World. A huge online RPG game that has its good points, but also fatal faults that have almost ruined it. It's beginning to seem it's only good point is that it's a great escape from reality. The faults…Let's just say, lots of people have stopped playing because of them.
I know, I'm not making a lot of sense. But after hearing my story, you might just change your mind on playing it as well. Let me start at the beginning, before I even got on The World.
First off, no one, online or real world, knows my real name. I've been as known as Dark Rose ever since I was 10. The quiet, so called goth girl, in all my classes. Very pale skin, but wore pitch-black clothing. My dark purple hair didn't help matters much. Nor my dark eyes. Anyway, I'm sure your wondering how I got onto The World for the first time. That is a story nor an adventure I will ever forget.
To get this out of the way early, I'm an only child living with an abusive dad. My mom left us and never looked back when I was 8 and my dad, of course, blamed me. Night after night he'd beat me and I'd go to school the next day, covered in cuts and bruises. I lived with it until around…13 or 14 when I started fighting and talking back. One night, shortly after turning 14, I finally got so tired of it and we got into this all out fight. I lost. But it did earn me SOME privileges. Like getting a computer.
A year after doing that, I start hearing about this online game that everyone's getting into. I hear just good things at this time, so I'm interested. I borrow a copy from someone to load onto my computer and go from there. Create my character and start playing. That's how the Dark Rose everyone now knows came to be.
A year later, now 16, I start hearing about all the rumors of people falling into comas while playing. And also of a young Wavemaster who hasn't logged out in days. By this time, I've firmly established who I am in the game. A twin blade thief, who defies all the rules and has had to fight the Crimson Knights many times. Plus the fact I was a pretty good hacker, defiantly not the best, or an expert, but I've hacked into the game a few times.
But anyway, the starting of the rumors changed the way I viewed the game. Connected to the game in a way no one, not even the administrators were, I felt it was time to figure out what was going on. Settling down for a very long adventure, I get sucked into a whirlwind of misgivings, betrayal and absolute truth as I learned more and more about the Wavemaster who couldn't log out, the cat, and the sleeping girl he associated with.
