My friend ( camoleopard) and I ( KittyEden1) are on Twitter right now, gathering up support for the #Telethon7 in Perth. I decided to write this shortfic as a tribute to it. Please donate if you haven't already!

"Doctor," Amy attempted to catch the edge of his tweed coat as he dashed around the console again. "What is it exactly that you're doing?"
"It's Telethon Seven, Pond!" he exclaimed, doing another twirl, and slamming down a button. He flipped over an egg timer. "No time to waste!"
She gave up, seating herself on the jumpseat, content to just watch him be his insane self for a minute. "And... what's that when it's at home?"
He paused, staring at her incredulously. "You haven't heard of Telethon? Well," he continued, in response to her shake of the head. "It's a charity event that's been going since, uh..." he counted on his fingers. "1968. And it'll keep on going until 4012, with some minor breaks in-between! Amazing what you humans can do, when you put your minds to it!"
"I think I've heard of it," Amy commented, scrunching up her nose. "'Financially supporting the medical and social welfare of children and young people, and funding research into children's diseases'?"
"Oh, good for you, Pond!" he enthused, twiddling a dial. "You do pay attention!"
"Well, it was only because my Year 4 teacher drummed it into my head," she sniffed. "Can't we go to it any time, though? We have a time machine."
The Doctor finished up with his tappings and seated himself carefully next to her on the seat. "Some things are important! If I don't do this now, I may forget. It's been known to happen..." He tapped her nose with his pointer finger. "Plus, this is the special Telethon! They ran it in Perth, 2014, if I'm right, and I usually am."
"Oh, look at Mr Modest," Amy grumbled, getting up. "What's so special about this Telethon?"
He turned to grin at her, face gleaming. "It was the Telethon when the Earth started caring. When people actually noticed that it was time for a change. When you amazing, amazing humans realized your full potential!"
He stretched out his hand, wiggling his non-existent eyebrows. "Well? You coming?"
She accepted the hand, and allowed herself to be twirled out of the TARDIS. "What are you donating?"
He frowned, thinking. "I have some useless junk in some of the storerooms I can afford to get rid of. The Crown Jewels... the Mona Lisa..."
"Doctor, the Mona Lisa is in the Louvre right now!"
"No, it isn't. It's just a very good copy."
She stopped, mid-step. "Are you telling me you have the Mona Lisa in a back cupboard in this box?"
He frowned at her. "Don't be ridiculous. It's in the art gallery."
She stood still for a moment. The Doctor continued on, oblivious. "Look, Pond! They're at $12,646,440 already!"
Amy shoved the thought of the Mona Lisa out of her mind for the moment, and dashed after the Doctor.
After all, this was the crowning moment of glory for the human race.
She might as well look at it while it was there.
