A oneshot I thought up after watching Charlie and Angelo suck each others' faces off. Read and review!

Love Rhyleigh xoxox

Their feelings had been rocky since he spied on her.

She couldn't stand to be near him, and they worked together.

He was pining for her, and he let it show.

They tried to be professional, but it was hard to be professional when one was head over heels for the other and the other hated their guts.

Their professional relationship had suffered.

"It's hard to throw it out when the person's human".

That's what he had told Martha, in the middle of a late night chat. He needed someone to vent to, and Martha was as good as anyone.

"We're just friends, okay? Nothing more".

That's what she had told her daughter, when the teenager had queried.

She had blamed commitment phobia- she hadn't been in a serious relationship.

He blamed himself- it was all him, scaring her away.

They were both to blame.

Charlie Buckton was in denial- she didn't like him like that. They were just friends.

Angelo Rosetta was head over heels in love with her- he knew he wanted her.

He had stuffed it up, he had stalked her. Stalking a police officer was not the brightest thing to do- and he was a police officer himself.

It contradicted itself.

"Charlie?" Angelo said breathlessly, watching Charlie walk over to the fax machine.

They had been getting along a lot better, after working together on the Jeffries brothers' case. They had gotten along even better, working on Hugo's case.

But they still seemed to be avoiding each other.

"Yes?" she asked tersely.

He moved closer towards her, his lips connecting with hers. He felt her shock- and then he felt her relax into the kiss.

All of a sudden, the room seemed way too hot, and they broke apart a lot sooner than they wanted to.

"Oh my God", Charlie muttered, barely audible.

"Charlie-" Angelo started.

"Um, I've got to go and meet Ruby", she lied.

"Okay", he sighed.

That was as far as he was going to go- Charlie was like a horse, he decided. She shied easy, and if he wasn't careful, he was going to cop a kick where it hurts.

By the time Ruby arrived at the place Leah and Charlie lived, her mother was almost hyperventilating in the kitchen.

"Oh my God, what happened?" Ruby demanded.

The last time she had seen her mother like that, she had nearly died.

"Angelo", she choked out.

"What did he do, Charlie? Want me to hurt him? I can hurt him. Tell me who to hurt and I'll hurt 'em", she said confidently.

Charlie just blinked at the teenager. "No! No, no, no, no, no, no! He kissed me, Rubes!"

Charlie could hear Ruby's voice in her head, almost laughing. "It's not like he's gonna tie you down and pash you, Charlie!"

He hadn't tied her down.

"Did you kiss him back? Because if it was forced, than I should hurt him. You should hurt him- you should shoot him! Shoot him, Charlie. You know you want to".

"I don't know if I kissed him back!"

"How can you not know if you kissed him back? It takes two to tango, Charlz!"

"I think I kissed him back..."

The mother daughter duo launched into a huge discussion about what it meant.

Maybe Leah had been right. Maybe they had just hit a bump in their relationship. A bump in the road was all it took sometimes, for something good to fall apart.

Maybe it was a bump in the road.
