Hi! I guess this isn't really a romance but it could be the start of Spike's obsession and I didn't know what else to put it as. It's set in season 2.

Disclaimer: I don't own Buffy the Vampire Slayer but the character of Spike is just amazing! ;)

Spike stood in the shadows of the cemetery, watching the Slayer. She was fighting, as per usual. Vamps didn't stand a chance. Slayer dusted the last one and looked around as if searching for more. She looked mighty ticked off about something, probably why she beat the last few buggers up so much before staking them. Spike moved further into the shadows so the blonde didn't see him. He didn't want to fight her tonight. It wasn't what he was here for. Anyway, Dru would kill him if she knew what he was doing. What was he doing though? Standing in a cemetery watching the Slayer dust some more of his kind. He could just as easily be back home with Drusilla more feeding off some weak human out in the dead of night; either of those options would normally be more entertaining than lurking in the shadows observing your sworn enemy kill things. So why was he here and not there? The Slayer sat down cross-legged and put her chin in her hand. She surveyed the area half-heartedley, searching for any demon activity. Spike just stared at her. He'd been doing this quite a bit recently. It had started as just once or twice a week but now he came every night to watch her. Sometimes she had a friend with her but he preferred it when she was alone. Then he could just watch her stand or sit there, lost in her thoughts. It was then that her face was serious, she was being the Slayer, not a friend or a daughter. Spike felt like he knew her better every night. He felt like he knew her better than most people. He probably did. He saw the real her, the one she hid under smiles and laughter. He saw the true Slayer in her. Why he watched her he didn't know. He knew one thing though. She was different from the others. He was fascinated by this slayer.
