Just a short Wicked one-shot. Set right at the end of the finale of Wicked. Enjoy x

Slowly caressing her face he whispered "We can be together now."

"I know." She muttered. Hesitantly she moved her head to the left & peered down at the floor. "It's not exactly how we'd wished for."

"As long as you're mine." He said, pulling her close.

"They think I'm dead, listen..." He listened. Listened to the chanting- the repeated words.

"No one mourns the wicked."

"They think I'm dead and they celebrate...Fiyero I can't live like this..." She was ready to scream, ready to throw her fists against his chest but the soft touch of his lips forced her otherwise. For a moment she lingered, un-aware of the wrath inside her. Emotions and feelings wrapped inside hatred were too much. "Ahh!" She screamed turning her back on him.

"Elphaba, please!"

"No!"

"Elphaba, listen to me. No more Shiz, no more Wizard, no more Morrible, no more Gli-"

"No more Glinda!" She roared in his face- her hands ran psychotically through her hair, her lips trembled, turning into a barrier in order to hold back the scream which was ready to irrupt. "Glinda..." It was merely a whisper that came past those deep red lips. "I'm never going to see her again., the one person whoever..." And then she stopped, catching the look within his eye. She allowed her hands to slowly fall from her head and lock themselves around her neck. "Look at you...if I'd just stayed away, if...if that water really had-"

"Stop it!" Fiyero snapped snatching her wrists once again, pulling them from around her neck, attempting to pull her close. She resisted; for only a little while before giving in and allowing herself to hold him tight. "Don't, don't cry."

"If the only the truth had been told...we wouldn't be like this. I could have been something, something wonderful." A cloud of glass overcame within her eyes and she was gone, her mind conjuring some wild fantasy which she'd never be able to grasp in her own two hands for real. Fiyero, patient and considerate, waited and watched. He watched then, as her eyes became more focused, the deep cloud which stole her from reality had let her go and she returned her gaze back to him. "Though the Wizard stole everything that ever meant something to me. Even you." I'm sorry Fiyero, I'm so sorry. I've been driven to madness I know, but I, I, I can change- I don't mean to be-"

"Elphaba. Listen to me. I love you." He spoke every syllable allowing the truth in his words to swallow her whole and torture her un-willingly more. "I know that this is all we can have now- but as long as you're here by my side- that's all that matters and it's all I care about." He smiled only slightly and she shook her head.

"You shouldn't have defended me, you should have forgotten me!"

"Tell me, how do you forget the person you love?" Fiyero pursed his lips and held onto her.

"If the Wizard had just done the right thing then...if I wasn't this horrific colour, if I were only normal- these lies wouldn't have been conjured together and together we would have been happy."

"We CAN be happy. You just have to hold on."

"Really?"

"Together WE will be the greatest team there's ever been."
