Because sometimes what we want isn't what we need………
Dean Winchester wanted a picture perfect life. The house, the white picket fence, the girl and the kid. He thought that after Sam had sacrificed himself for him that he wanted to keep his promise. To go to Lisa and pray that she would take him in and look after be the man in her life the father figure to Ben.
Dean wanted to give up hunting. To stay in one place, with four walls and windows. To be safe. To not sleep with a gun under his pillow.
To drive the impala, not live in it.
He wanted the life he saw in his dreams. The one where he went to soccer games and barbeques, hung around with the guys, played poker and spent evenings with Lisa wrapped in his arms.
That's what he wanted right?
