Meh...the reason you have this little nauseatingly sweet ficlet is because my gf left yesterday after spending the weekend with me and it made me have ~feelings~. So I turned them into Rizzles ~feelings~ and wrote this that I originally posted on Tumblr last night. This is the only like K thing I've ever written, which is surprising considering I've been writing fanfic for the last 3 1/2 years. Guess there's a first for everything eventually...

Anywho, enjoy!

Jane stood in her small bathroom, her left hand gripping her toothbrush and her toothbrush in her mouth, no longer moving.

Maura had left earlier that evening after having spent their entire weekend off at her apartment watching movies, and as usual, Jane had been very sad to see her go, even though she knew she'd see her the next morning at work.

Her bathroom counter was now clean, devoid of makeup bottles, facial moisturizers, and other fancy face products spilling out of Maura's bag. It seemed empty. Sad, even.

She spat out a mouthful of toothpaste foam into the sink and turned on the faucet, rinsing it down the drain. She stuck her toothbrush back in her mouth, continuing to brush and then walked back into her bedroom.

The bed, too, was now empty, of course. Maura had made it this morning, because that was just Maura. Like her bathroom counter, her bed seemed sad, too.

She turned slowly around her room, just looking at everything in it.

To be perfectly honest, when Maura wasn't there, everything always felt empty and sad, but she'd never really put a name to the feeling until now.

And one day, she knew when Maura found someone amazing to date and eventually marry, her bathroom counter, bed, and entire apartment would be nothing but empty and sad.

And that was when she knew she was in love with Maura.

Maura's fancy makeup and moisturizer belonged on her sink. Maura belonged in her bed. Maura belonged in her life.

She walked back into her bathroom and spat out the rest of the toothpaste in her mouth. Her phone, which had been sitting on the counter, chimed and she saw a text message notification flash on the screen from Maura. She smiled.

She rinsed off her toothbrush and then rinsed out her mouth. She set her toothbrush back into the holder and wiped off her mouth and hands with a hand towel - one that Maura had given her, she noted.

She picked up her phone and slid her thumb across the screen to unlock it.

I miss you. : (

She smiled sadly at her phone and texted back quickly.

I miss you too. : (
I don't like when you have to go home.

Her phone chimed again.
I don't like it either. I especially don't like being all alone in my bed after a weekend with you. :'(

She typed out, Maybe one day you won't ever have to be alone in bed again.
She tapped the send button and held her breath.

After 30 seconds passed with no response, Jane let go of her breath, worried she'd just ruined everything. A minute passed. Two minutes passed. She continued to stare at her phone.

After three minutes, Jane's phone came to life again.
Am I going to be never alone in bed again with you?

Jane grinned and started laughing, tears of relief forming in her eyes.
Maybe. If that's what you want.

Maura's reply was instant and she grinned again.
Yes, please. : )
Wait, did you just inadvertently propose to me via text message?
We aren't even dating.

Jane swallowed hard. Oops? she thought to herself. It did kind of sound like a proposal of sorts.
Oh god no. Trust me, I'm not an idiot.
You deserve better than that.

Good.
But as long as it happens some day.
I'm going to bed now. Goodnight. xx

Jane smiled.
Goodnight, Maur. Sweet dreams. xx
See you tomorrow. : )

I love you wonderful readers, so please review. You're not getting a sequel on this, though, and that'll probably make you sad. Review anyway!
