Short one shot about what could have (should have) happened in the hotel scene in 3x22: To Love and Die in L.A.

Disclaimer: I do not own Castle.

Kate turned the knob on the door to the bedroom in the hotel suite she was sharing with Castle. Swinging the door open she sees him standing there. She knew he had to have been watching since the moment she had said good night not less than a minute ago.

When he sees her he strides swiftly over to her. Intensity of his words to her still lingered in the air around them. 'After spending all this time together I am still amazed at depths of your strength, you heart…and your hotness.' The look on her face was enough to say it all. Rick wrapped one arm around her waist pulling her close. His other hand came up to cup her cheek, which was heating up from the closeness they were now sharing. Kate leaned in slightly and Rick came the rest of the way in, closing the gap between their lips firmly. He poured every ounce of emotion he was feeling in that moment into the kiss, as if in effort to tell Beckett everything he felt for her without words…for once.

Kate returned his kiss with equal vigor. Simply enjoying these few precious moments they were getting to have to together. She then broke the kiss so she could look into his blue eyes, which were now shifting from lustful to joyful. Kate moved her hands down from his shoulders, wondering how they got to be there in the first place, grabbed one of his hands in hers and with her other hand reached behind her to grab the door and move it out of the way.

"Come on," said Kate. She pulled Castle into the bedroom behind her. He pulled her in for another kiss before she leaned down to pull back the sheets on the bed and crawling in underneath them. Castle, not sure how to proceed, unsure of her intentions stood there for a moment. Kate grasped his hand once more and pulled her down onto the bed with her.

Castle felt safe enough to pull an arm around her so they could snuggle up together as they slept. Neither knew how they were going to proceed in the morning but for now they were happy. So, with content, lightened hearts they fell into a deep restful night's sleep. Each one knowing that the only thing they needed in that moment was for the other to be there.

Author's Note: short and sweet. Got inspired and had to write. Will only be a one shot. I don't plan to continue. Hope you enjoyed it.
