Chapter 1 – Is this Real Life?...
Peach was zooming through the last turn of the Mushroom Gorge track. She was in first place and the finish line was in sight. Donkey Kong was gaining on her but that didn't matter. She simply used a mushroom she had gotten earlier in the race to give her that extra burst of speed she needed.
And that's it! The race is over! Peach WINS!
Leaving the track, Peach started thinking about days like today. Her good days, as she called them. There were days when everything was right. Her hair looked good, her dress was neat, she spent time with her friends, she won the races. On the good days, nothing bothered Peach. She was downright cheerful.
She couldn't wait to return to her castle and spend the evening with Toadsworth and Mario. Maybe she would even bake herself a congratulatory cake.
These days were perfect … But no matter how much she tried to avoid thinking about it, in the back of her mind, she knew the bad days would come back soon enough.
