Her eyes lit up in excitement and happiness as the fireworks exploded outside the gondola. She glanced sideways to look at Cloud, who looked strangely mesmerised by the beautiful scene before him. As if sensing her stare, he looked back at her and held her gaze. The flower girl felt her cheeks heat up slightly and she ended up looking away.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" she whispered softly, leaning her head in her hands as her elbows rested on the window ledge. She smiled contentedly as the lights played on her face. Cloud looked back outside again but he didn't reply to her comment. Aeris was not bothered by it, as she hadn't really expected him to say anything. He had been quiet ever since her speech about how he reminded him of her ex. She shifted slightly, feeling guilt and dread rise through her body. She hoped she hadn't scared him off.
He straightened up suddenly, rubbing his hands together as if he was nervous about something. The Cetra watched him carefully, raising an eyebrow at the behaviour. As another burst of fireworks went off, he leaned forward so he was by her side, looking out of the window.
"It is beautiful," he admitted at last. She turned her head to him and smiled in response and to her surprise, she saw Cloud smile back, a smile that reached his eyes and she found herself wishing she had a camera so she could capture that moment forever.
