Damn my hormones. Draco Malfoy thought as he glanced across the potions dungeon. He snuck a look in the girl's direction. She was adding the three tablespoons of Mermaid Scales and they shimmered all around her as she blew them into the gold-colored potion.

She laughed in delight as it began to give off a glowing, warm color. Her face was lit up by the concoction. Smoothing her hair behind her ears, which was a very warm brown color, and amazingly curly, she looked over to Draco's side of the room.

"Who are you staring at, Drac?" Pansy Parkinson looked up at Malfoy's engaged look and simpered like a baby.

That Mudblood Granger sure is a looker, he thought, not hearing Pansy's question, Even though she is a muggle.

"What did you say, Parkinson?" Draco asked as he slowly poured in the Unicorn blood.

"I asked you who you were looking at."

"None of your damn business, Parkinson."

"Now why are you being like this? We had such a good time at the Yule Ball!" Yeah, Pansy, if you count three of those four hours I spent talking to Crabbe and Goyle while you shook your fat at me, hoping to give me an erection.

"I don't feel like talking about this right now."

"What do you feel like talking about?"

"I feel like talking about the damn potion." The potion started to simmer finally and it was almost time for the Mermaid Scales.

Draco glanced over again at the wonder pair of Granger and the weasel, Ronald Weasley. He shook his head, his white blonde locks falling over his pale eyes, masking the feelings he had looking at Hermione.

Hermione looked over at the exact moment that Draco was staring at her and gave him a look that could shatter glass.

Might as well give up, old chap. She's never going to see you as anything other than that Slytherin.

"Dismissed, write four inches on the use of the lighting potion and the contents by tomorrow." Snape said, watching the class inch towards the door. Finally, Draco thought, running his hand through his hair again, The day is over.

"Attention Students," Dumbledore's voice came out magically in the halls, "Will the prefects please report to the prefect common room to meet with the heads to discuss some important information concerning the next year. Thank you."

Great. Just ten more chances for me to look like a fool in front of Granger and the wonder boy.

Walking up the grand stairs, Draco spied the Wonder pair near the trap door leading to the prefect common room.

"Playing tonsil quiddich, are we?" Draco muttered as he slid by Granger and Weasley.

"Get a life, Malfoy." Hermione said coyly as she deepened their kiss.

Draco slid down the ladder into the lightly lit room. The fire was burning slowly in the fireplace and Millicent Bullstrode (sp.?) was sitting in the window seat, reading a book. Ginny Weasley and Justin Finch-Fletchley were engrossed in conversation by the fire when Draco made his way down.

"Hello, Draco." Ginny said. The prefects knew him better than most. It was like they didn't have to be preoccupied with the nasty cynical boy and instead saw the good one.

"Hi." He mumbled.

Hermione climbed down the ladder with Seamus Finnigan, the head boy.

"All right, you guys," Hermione said, "We have a little announcement to share with you. I want you all to know that we will be taking representatives from fifth sixth and seventh years, one from each house, to Salem Academy. Our friend will choose the names, yet again, the goblet of fire. Seamus?"

"Ok, we're going to put the goblet in the hall tomorrow, so just put your name in, guys. Its not a big deal, really."

Hermione will be going. And if I have anything to do with it, so will I.
