Jeanette shifted in her bed uncomfortably. She shut her eyes and tried to calm, but no avail. In other words, she couldn't sleep. The purple clad sat down and sighed. Jeanette stood up and made her way towards downstairs.
She took every step quietly yet carefully, trying not to trip. The chipette opened the back door quietly, but the loud 'creak' made it possible. It leads her in the backyard garden. There, she sat on the grass watching the moonlight. Memories of the 'Island accident' flood her mind.
She smiled softly at the thoughts.
But little did she know, someone wake up.
Simon groaned softly and opened his eyes. He woke up because of the loud 'creak' by the door. The chipmunk took his glasses and put it on, then he look around.
As his eyes land at Jeanette's bed, he noticed that she's not there.
'What is she doing at 2 o'clock in the morning?' The blue clad thought.
He carefully opened their bedroom door and headed downstairs.
"Jeanette?" He softly called. His ears perked up when he heard singing. As he get closer in the back door, the singing got louder and louder.
He slowly opened the door and peeked outside. And there Jeanette is, sitting in the grass, eyes closed.
He got out and walked closer to her, until a realization hit him; Jeanette is singing.
"I say hey, I'll be gone today. But I'll be back around the way."
He adjusted his glasses and listen carefully. After a second of recognizing, he recognized that the song is Say Hey.
"Seems like everywhere I go, the more I see, the less I know. But I know one thing, that I love you."
As she finished the song, she sighed. "Ehem." Simon 'faked' coughed. Jeanette jumped a little and turned around. She became nervous when she saw Simon. "H-How long have you been l-listening?" She asked nervously.
Simon smiled, "Maybe, half of the song?"
The blue chipmunk sat beside her. "Why did you sing that?" Simon asked her.
"I don't even know, it just came to my mind, so I decided to sing it." Jeanette answered him. "Simon?" She questioned him. "Yes?" He replied.
"Do you really not remember what happened when you are Simone?" She asked. "Nope." He said.
"You know…the song that I sing earlier, is what you sing when we are dancing in the rain." The purple chipette smiled. "R-Really?" Simon asked. She nodded.
Simon blushed is embarrassment under his fur.
"Are you blushing?" Jeanette giggled. 'Oh no, she caught me blushing.' Simon thought nervously. "O-Oh, it's n-nothing…" Simon rubbed the back of his neck.
Jeanette giggled again.
Simon continued the song for her.
I've been a lot of places all around the way
I've seen a lot of joy, and I've seen a lot of pain
But I don't want to write a love song for the world
I just want to write a song about a boy and a girl.
Kids on the corner, always calling my name
And the kids on the corner playing silly games
When I saw you getting down, girl, I hoped it was you
And when I looked into your eyes, I knew it was true
She rested her head in Simon's shoulder. He felt jolt inside him, butterflies in his stomach, and his heart beats faster.
"Let's go then, shall we?" Jeanette stood up. Simon nodded and followed her behind. When they were about to go upstairs, Jeanette stopped in her tracks, causing Simon to stop to. He gave her a confusing look.
She leaned in and kissed his cheek, then said "I love you."
Jeanette giggled and hurriedly went upstairs.
Simon blushed brightly and touched where Jeanette kissed him. But the three words made his heart flutter and leap.
"I love you."
