Title: Mercy at First Cut

Rating: T

Disclaimer: Kris has power over people, but not so much power that she can persuade Bruno Heller to give her the rights to The Mentalist.

Summary: The shortest one shot ever. "After all, he was merciful."

She had been alive. He had wanted her to beg. He enjoyed that.

First, the neck and she fell to the floor. The thick, red blood pooled onto the cream colored carpet. Just to add to the masterpiece he then sliced her thighs. That was the one thing that he could be: merciful. He listened to their cries for mercy. He had been quick.

With that he, like a cardiac surgeon, cracked the chest open with a little help from the sharpened kitchen knife. He cut through the rest so he could get to what he wanted. The heart. The heart and chest was where he got a lot of the blood for the signature.

He heard the snap of the bones and squish of the blood as he squeezed to get the ink for the artwork he would soon create.

He looked for her nail polish and cleaned off the excess polish and with delicate hands; he painted her toenails.

He, then, painted onto the wall, clockwise with two fingers with his standard black, rubber kitchen glove. The liquid dripped down the wall and had given his masterpiece a darker feel to it. The signature had been completed.

He looked back over at the victim. The blood had pooled under her head since he had sliced her neck open.

After all, he was merciful.
