Thank God for my poetry class, I'm telling you. With all the different styles we've been studying, I've tried my hand at them myself. One of them was an acrostic form, which I've done here. The poem is about the friendship between Laverne and Shirley - the first stanza from Shirley's POV and the second from Laverne's - and if you'll notice, the first letters of each first word in the lines spell out the girls' names. Look closer and the two acrostics coupled with the first word of the line "And now you..." and the whole last line makes the sentence "Laverne and Shirley, friends forever chasing dreams." Sounds like them, huh?
Loyal to the very end,
Always, always my best friend.
Voice of reason, voice of fun,
Eyes that shine just like the sun.
Run life's race without a care,
Never leave me in despair.
Effervescent? Yes indeed!
And now you write one all for me.
Sweetest friend I'll ever meet,
Hard to get and hard to beat.
If I fall flat on my face,
Run to me and show me grace.
Lovely smile and lovely heart,
Ever loyal, not to part.
You and me, we're quite a team,
Friends forever chasing dreams.
