Chapter 1
There were streaks in the sky. These streaks stood out in the starry night sky. A little girl jumped up and down with joy at the sight of these streaks.
"Look big sister!" she said, pointing to the sky. "Shooting stars!" The girl's sister looked up into the sky as well.
"Wow," she said. "So many..." she then looked at the tiny bundle of cuteness that was next to her.
"Did you make a wish?" she asked. The little girl nodded.
"Yup!" she exclaimed. "I wished that everyone in the world could be best friends and live in peace!"
Nineteen months later...
"Raptor leader to all units," said a voice. "All enemy tanks destroyed. Nice work. Let's go home."
"Raptor 11, roger."
"Raptor 22, roger." There was a slight pause.
"Raptor 33, we don't have a response from you. Respond." The pilot in the cockpit shook her head, trying to push away sorrowful thoughts.
"...Raptor 33, roger." Her machine, however, was not moving properly.
"This is Raptor 33," she said softly, "My knees are busted. I can't walk properly."
Roger that Raptor 33, said Raptor 11, Can you make it back?
"I'll try," Raptor 33 replied.
"Ensign Okada!" a mechanic called. A small, slightly skinny girl with a ponytail turned around.
"Yes?" Ensign Okada Haruyu replied. She walked over to the mechanic who was busy staring at Haruyu's mech.
"Did you say that its knees were busted?" the mechanic asked. Haruyu nodded.
"Yes, I did," she replied. "Why?" She looked up and realised what the mechanic was talking about.
The knees on her KG-7 were not busted, they were virtually non-existent. It was a wonder she made it back at all.
"This needs a complete overhaul," said the mechanic. "Who knows what other damage was done to this thing."
"How long will it take?" asked Haruyu. The mechanic scratched his head.
"Honestly, I have no idea," he replied. "Could be from a week to a month." Haruyu sighed. This meant that she wouldn't be able to fight for at least a week. The idea did not please her.
Especially when it meant that she couldn't avenge her sister for a week.
A transport aircraft arrived at Torrington Base that day. It roared to a stop as it entered its hanger. The rear portion opened and a number of trailers rolled out of the aircraft. Most of these carried extra supplies for the base. However, there was one trailer that had a big tarp on it. No one payed attention to it, however.
Except Haruyu.
Something inside her clicked when she saw the trailer. It was like it was emitting cries of help. She didn't know why, but whatever was in there, it wanted to be freed. She shook her head, trying to clear it of such nonsense. It was at this time that she felt someone tap on her shoulder.
She turned around and found Captain Anthony Clamp, otherwise known as Raptor leader.
"What are you doing out here, Ensign?" he asked. Haruyu blushed slightly.
"Um... n-nothing much... sir," she stuttered. Anthony blinked in confusion but put his trademark grin back on.
"Okay then... Anyway, lunch is ready so go to the caf," he said.
"Y-Yes sir!"
"So?" asked Erica, aka Raptor 22, "How did it feel being invited personally by your beloved Captain?" It was extremely hard for Haruyu to hide her blush.
"W-what are you talking about?" Erica gave an evil grin.
"You know EXACTLY what I'm talking about," she replied. This only made Haruyu's blush even deeper. Then a thought popped up.
"Did you see the new supplies we got?" Haruyu asked. Erica shook her head.
"No," she replied. "Why?" Haruyu shrugged.
"No reason."
Haruyu looked out of the window. Torrington base was a relatively calm place. It was one of the few places that were holding out in Australia. Ever since the Martians invaded Earth nineteen months ago, the Martians didn't pay much attention to the events going on in Australia. Lately, however, the enemy has increased the intensity of their attacks on the base. The Martians seemed to be a little reluctant to send in anything stronger than tanks, however.
From within a Martian Landing Castle, Count Chamberlain, a member of the 37 clans of Martian Orbital Knights, addressed his men.
"Gentlemen!" he began. "The time has come! We lost many lives trying to get information about our target, but it shall pay off! We have amassed an army greater in strength than the Terran scum could ever imagine! It is time we wipe them off the map with their own weapons! To victory!"
"To victory!" his men repeated. The hatches closed. The optics flashed. The horde of captured KG-7 Aleirons rose onto their feet and marched out of the castle.
The alarm was loud and annoying. That was how it was meant to be. Of course, it had to be during lunch.
"The base is under attack!" a soldier yelled. The members of Raptor platoon jumped to their feet and ran straight for the hanger. Haruyu, however, stopped before reaching it. She forgot she couldn't sortie.
"Captain Clamp!" she called. "My unit is not working. What should I do?" Clamp turned around.
"Um... Go find a unit that works!" he said, running to his KG-7. "Or just hide." Haruyu just stared and then sighed.
"He's never serious..." she said to herself. Then she made herself busy by looking for a usable unit.

"Charge!" a Martian commander yelled. The Martians, also yelling war cries, charged forward in their captured KG-7 Aleirons. The troops defending Torrington base were surprised when they encountered them.
75mm tracer shells flew everywhere. HE shells from the defenders, AP shells from the attackers. The HE rounds fired from the defending forces had little effect on the attacking troops because the Martians had the sense to have their units equipped with shields. The Martians, having the sense to load AP as their standard ammunition, tore the defending Earth forces apart. They then began to bombard the artillery bunkers with their leg mounted rocket pods.
Raptor platoon moved in to fill in some of the gaps. Firing AP from behind cover, they managed to destroy the more ignorant Martians, forcing the rest behind cover or behind their shields.
"Raptor 11 to Raptor leader! How the hell do they have so many of them!?"
"How the hell should I know! Raptor 22, get on top of that building now! Blast their heads off!"
"Raptor 22, roger!" Erica sighed in her cockpit. She looked back towards the base.
"Hope Haruyu is okay..."
Haruyu herself was dashing around the base, looking for a unit that worked. She burst into a random hanger and found a KG-6 Sleipnir, similar to the one Erica was piloting but still had its orange trainer colors.
"Hey!" she called to a random mechanic. "Does this thing work!?" The mechanic turned around.
"Yeah!" he replied. "It works! Hang on! I'll go..."
The hanger suddenly exploded.
Haruyu was blown out of the hanger and landed on her back hard. She gritted her teeth in pain as she got up. The hanger, along with the Sleipnir and the mechanics inside, were no more. She could see multiple shadows overhead.
"Sky Carriers..."
The Sky Carriers began dropping their loads. The Martians fired at the control tower and other hangers as they landed.
Haruyu quickly ran towards the next hanger. It was the only hanger that was left intact. She heard gunshots above her. Haruyu looked up and dashed away just in time to avoid the shell casings falling to the ground. She continued to run. When she finally reached the hanger, she burst through the door.
A trailer sat in the middle of the hanger. It had a tarp on it.
"It's the one from this morning," Haruyu thought out loud. She rushed towards the trailer and climbed onto it. She then tore off the tarp.
What was under it resembled a KG-6 Sleipnir, but its compound sensors were replaced with a monoeye, had large thrusters around its legs, lacked wings, had two sword-like things on its back, had two vulcan cannons in its head, and was equipped with an unfamiliar rifle. There was some writing on the chest area.
"KGX-8..." Haruyu read. "It's a new model?" She looked around, then jumped into the open cockpit. The hatch closed. Just then the roof of the hanger was suddenly torn off. Haruyu yelped in surprise. She rushed to find the power button.
The Martian KG-7 readied his rifle, fully loaded with AP to guarantee a kill.
"Weapons!" thought Haruyu. "I need weapons!" She took a few deep breaths.
"Don't panic," she said to herself. "Think! The controls should be the same as my KG-7!" She looked around.
"Main power... This thing!" she hit a glowing button. The screen turned on and she found herself looking at the enemy Aleiron.
The Aleiron fired, and the inside of the cockpit shuddered violently.
"Damn it!" Haruyu exclaimed. "Move!"
The Kataphrakt's monoeye flashed and slowly began to lift itself off of the trailer.
Another Martian KG-7 approached the previous one.
"Gene, Hold!" he ordered. "Don't destroy them if they're parts. Seize them and-!"
"Master Sergeant!" interrupted the first one. "Those aren't just parts! Someone's in there! It- It's moving!"
The prototype broke free of its bindings and now stood tall against its new enemies. It picked up its rifle lying next to the trailer and pointed it in the direction of its enemies.
"Payback time," said Haruyu as she gritted her teeth.
The KGX-8 Intruder had been activated and people were about to die.
Author's notes: Hi guys, it's Karl the Arty. Remember the two siblings from the end of episode one of Aldnoah Zero? I wondered what happened to them, so here's their story. I'm basing my MC off of the Manga version of the siblings, so she is a little older than you probably think. Also, I have just read a good side story of Season 1 so I hope I can satisfy those that need a Season 2 side story.
Please rate and review. It motivates me to write more.
