Reminisce

The chance that the Flying Dutchman would turn on us had never occurred to me. The chance that Will Turner would take Jones' place seemed even less likely to me.

And yet that black-clad figure on the rigging was unmistakable.

My mind reels as I reminisce, tracing back his deceiving path. First Turner fled under my orders to ensure his and his fiancée's freedom, then partnered with Sparrow, then joined forces with the EITC again. What was Turner's original intention? Had he been planning this the whole time?

Impossible.

From the time I was a midshipman to the time I became a Lord, I have never been fooled like this. I am an exceptionally smart man; I would've spotted his trickery.

But the joke's still on me, I guess. My doom is headed straight for me and there's nothing I can do. Groves is shouting something at me; I'm not sure what I answer. All that's going through my head is:

Molly and Sara, my beautiful wife and child, united again with me at last. My name, disgraced in the East India Trading Company and the Royal Navy. Death—will it be painful? My crew—their fate is the same as mine. Jack Sparrow…

It was just good business.
