Okay, so I was bored one night a while ago and I wrote this because I had been watching Wolf's Rain a little while before that. It's been on my computer, like, forever, but I forgot about it until three minutes ago, when I was surfing through my documents. I saw it, reread it, and just decided to put it on here for the heck of it.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Wolf's Rain.

Sadness

The blood red moon shines high above
The white wolf walks through the snow below
Snow falls from the clouds
The ground is covered in it

The white animal raises its head
And releases a great cry
His howls echo across the empty landscape
He is alone

The other wolves are nowhere near
All were lost in battle
The white wolf mourns his friends
And proclaims his sadness to the empty earth

In his jaws the wolf carries a wilted flower
The only thing left of his precious maiden
In his heart the wolf carries the grief and guilt
That comes when you watch friends die

The gray wolf died on the slope
The black and the tan on the ledge
The brown on the endless tundra
And the maiden in the crater of the mountain

The white wolf lies down on the freezing snow
His wounds too much to bear
He has lost too much blood to live
And he has too great a cause to die

The wolf lies on the endless plain of snow and closes his eyes
Reflecting on everything that has happened
The sadness, and the joy
The pain, and the loss

He remembers the fire that destroyed his home
The hunter that tracked him throughout the land
He remembers meeting his pack mates
And then losing them

A tear escapes the white wolf
For now he is alone in the world
With not even a Flower Maiden
To be his beacon in the darkness

Suddenly, the endless snow turns to a drizzling rain
The snow and ice melts away to reveal lush grasses
A lake forms beneath the white wolf
And he slips beneath the waters

He cracks open an eye
As the waters engulf him
And as he watches
The moon changes from red to silver

The white wolf is at peace
