She's my favorite from this series, so if you don't like then tough.
Aoba reached for her phone. The East-West War had just finished and she felt happy that she had come out on top with her friends, but she had lost her round and still felt bad about it. It seemed like she always lost her matches no matter how well she was doing. She hated losing, and felt like she let everyone down when she did. The other girls, her school, and the one she was about to call.
Sighing as she picked up her phone, she dialed the number she knew so well. It rang twice and a voice came through. "Talk to the King."
"Hey King, it's Aquarius." Aoba replied with a sad smile. "We've finished with the East-West War."
"I was watching. Congrats on winning the war." King replied.
"But I lost my round. I failed." the brunette protested.
"You lost that by the skin of your teeth and everyone knows it." King retorted, sounding almost annoyed.
"Please, you don't have to be so kind to a failure like me."
"Aoba." King's tone had changed, grown harder. "Listen to me, you have done nothing wrong. You have not only met my expectations but surpassed them at every turn. You are anything but a failure."
Aoba teared up at King's words. Was she really doing so well in his eyes? "Thank you, I needed to hear that." she whispered.
"And the operative, that second personality?"
"Gone." Aoba replied, going serious.
"And the other one?"
"Doesn't know anything. I think the operative used Parasitica as a way to protect her host."
"Makes sense." King sighed. "Proceed as normal for now. I'll call if I need you for anything." Aoba nodded, even though King couldn't see her. "And Aoba, I'm proud of you. You did everything right."
"Thank you, King." Aoba replied, ending the call. As she was changing, she realized King had done something he usually avoided on the phone, not once but twice. He had used her name instead of her codename. She finished getting changed and walked out. I'll get better. she swore as she got onto the bus. After all, I'm one of the Shadow Legion Thirteen Gates.
