"You and your wrestling!" Myka said angrily at Pete.
"Oh my wrestling what about you and your insistent reminder thatyou went to college, that you read the manual. When will I ever live that down!" Pete yelled.
"Oh my god, I do not do that!" Myka squealed, extending her neck in annoyance.
"Really ' I'm Myka, I read the manual, I'm soooooo perfect'" Pete mimicked.
Myka rolled her eyes, "Don't forget your inappropriate flirting with any girl, that comes around"
"I do not." He said stopping his foot.
"Oh. My. God. Your twelve years old!" Myka said storming out of the room.
"I am not twelve, if anything you're too old, all uptight, with your panties in a bunch." Pete said following her.
"Imbecile."
"Stick in the mud."
Myka gasped then groaned and rolled her eyes. "No you're more like a first grader on a candy rush." Pete opened his mouth to trade an insult then Myka cut him off, "No wait, that's an insult to first graders everywhere!"
"Oh really, you like to pretend that your soo mature, when really you're just as immature as the rest of us."
"Really? So what you're saying that I keep the 'C is for Cookie' song as my ringtone,"
"Hey! Cookie Monster is amazing!"
"See my point exactly." Myka said smugly.
Pete rolled his eyes. "At least I'm not parading around like a slut!"
Myka's face blanched, and then slowly color returned her face to a dark red. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Pete inhaled "Myka- I, no I didn't I mean."
"You're an ass hole Pete" Myka said with an icy calm, and she walked up the stairs, Pete saw her face half a second before she was gone. He could have sworn that tears were falling down her face.
Pete waited all day for her to come down those stairs, he sat on the couch and looked at his interlaced fingers, he tapped his foot, and hung his head. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Myka I didn't mean it, you're the most sophisticated modest woman I have ever met. Pete thought rehearsing what he was going to say when he saw her next. Myka, you're beautiful, you don't have to dress like a slut to get every man in the entire state to be blown away. Pete shook his head, stupid, stupid! He couldn't put all his remorse into words without sounding like a complete fool.
He heard soft steps on the stairs and the squeak and groan beneath her boots. Myka turned the corner and he saw the extent of her crying, she had obviously pulled herself back together after the "Incident" even though her cheeks were still puffy from crying.
Pete stood up and walked over to meet Myka at the bottom of the stairs, he saw her lip quiver, and her eyes look at him with sadness instead of hate.
He knew he couldn't talk his way out of this one. Pete closed her eyes and kissed Myka, a quick peck and then he whispered "sorry" in her ear before he ran passed her into his room and shut the door.
