Chapter 1: The New Baby
It was spring 2016, and Erica Homeson, a Highland Park resident, was just anxious to see whether her parents had a baby or not. Erica was the second oldest girl of her family. She was born on March 11, 1992, and had a big sister, Eva, who was born on October 14, 1984. She had a job in downtown Pittsburgh as a social worker. Her parents' names were William and Daisy, and her younger sister, Sophia, attended 2nd grade. She was born on November 4, 2008. On a chilly day in April, her mom was pregnant. "Oh boy!" Erica exclaimed. "I am going to have a new baby sister." "You sure are, Erica," Mrs. Homeson reminded her. "You are going to have to be very responsible for the baby," Mr. Homeson told her. "This means feeding her, changing her diapers, getting out her favorite toys." "Dad," Erica stated. "I know what I am doing." "Will I have to be responsible, too?" Sophia then asked. "Yes, Sophia," Mrs. Homeson then said. Erica sighed. "I hate growing up," she then admitted. "I want to be a little kid again." "Don't we all?" Mrs. Homeson then said. Erica thought it was scary, but exciting, to have her family grow bigger.
