Happy Temple Owning
By PrettyGothGirl
Summary: Gippal is being fussy about remodelling Djose and vowing never to give into Rikku about such things again.
A/N: So, yeah, this is actually a compilation of three conversations I've had (or overheard) with my folks about the remodeling my father is doing in our house (and some of his behaviors). o_o And, eee short!
Gippal stood on the edge of the half torn up floor and stared at it. His logical and precise engineering brain could not quite comprehend what he was seeing. "The threshold isn't straight to the wall! I don't get it. Why?"
Rikku shook her head and shifted their son on her hip. "I don't know honey." She privately thought that Gippal was far too fussy about things for his own good. He was making twice the work than was actually needed because of it.
"Then the stones are all crooked. Look. They're at this weird angle. Why didn't they set them straight? It's not even a pattern. They're just all wrong. Why would they do such a thing?"
"I don't know. Maybe they weren't quite as fussy as you are."
He nudged the metal level over the stones and stood on one end of it. The other end rose several inches into the air. "It's not even flat. How am I supposed to retile that? How?"
"I've been saying it ever since I moved here. They must have been drunk when they were building it."
Gippal rubbed his hand through his hair. "We should've just let it fall down."
Rikku rolled her eyes and shifted the baby again. "And then where would we be living?"
"Someplace better than this."
She giggled.
Gippal restarted swinging the sledgehammer in his hand onto the nearest stone. "I-" he grunted between each word as he swung. "-am- not-a-stonemason."
Rikku giggled again. "Just think of it as a good way to release all those inner anger issues."
He turned around and held the hammer out to her. "You wanna go."
She shook her head rapidly, still laughing. "No. No. No. I'm not angry at the moment. You need it more."
He growled. "I wouldn't be angry if I wasn't working on this stupid floor."
She came over and kissed his cheek. "That's happy temple owning dear."
Gippal sighed. "Would you get me the laser level, pypa?"
"Sure thing."
He waited until she was out of earshot. "I am never volunteering to remodel again. No matter how loud she throws a tantrum." He muttered and started swinging at the floor again.
