Destiny Rewritten
Prologue
Raven sighed as she entered her room. Yet another day was done for the Teen Titans; they had successfully fought, defeated, and captured yet another wannabe super-villain, and had the bumps and bruises to prove it. And that was all they had to show for their efforts. Robin was nursing several deep cuts and a few burns (he'd come close to actually having to go to the hospital to get them treated, but he'd refused to let it get that far). Beast Boy had an ice pack on his forehead where some bricks had been blown into him and Starfire. Cyborg's mechanical parts needed repairing from the few concussive blasts he'd received. Even Raven had gotten a little burned by the flames and intense heat the so-called 'Mad Bomber' had managed to kindle. The only one that had managed to get out relatively unscathed was Starfire. Only her clothes and hair got singed before the Bomber got taken down.
"Friend Raven, do you need help tending to your wounds? I have the salves and ointments needed for your burns and the necessary pain-numbers for your aches right here." Starfire offered, from outside of Raven's room.
"Thanks but no thanks, Starfire. I can handle them myself. Why don't you see if Robin needs any help? His burns were more serious than mine." Raven suggested.
"All right. Just let me know when you want the medicines, then." Starfire said, this time catching the hint that Raven just desired to be left alone, for the moment. When Starfire's footsteps had faded into the distance, Raven settled into a meditative seat before the window, and starting softly chanting under her breath.
"Azarath………Metrion…….Zynthos…….." Raven whispered, as a gentle breeze came from nowhere and swirled around her, healing her injuries as it went. As she continued her meditation, she slowly became aware that there was another presence in the room. Something familiar.
"Where is that presence coming from? Is it something I should be concerned about? Why does it feel like it's calling me, somehow?" Raven wondered, as she cut the session short in order to look around and check her room over carefully. She felt a sinking feeling in her gut when she ended up in front of the trunk where she had sealed Malchior's book.
"That's right……..This book is still here………But why is it giving off this feeling now? Why does its' aura feel so…….sad? Why?" Raven mused, as she carefully opened the trunk's lid and looked inside. There, just where she had left it a little over two years before, was Malchior's book. It was a bit dusty, but none the worse for wear. Steeling herself, Raven slowly opened the book, and found, to her shock, that the words were gone!
"What in the name of Azarath is going on here?! What happened to the story that was written on these pages?! Why are they all blank?!?" Raven's mind yelped, as she gaped at the empty pages. Then she pulled herself together and went to the beginning of the book. There, to her relief, were words written on those pages. But there was only enough written down to chronicle Rorek's earliest adventures, and was far too soon the in the story for his fight against Malchior.
"But why is most of the story gone? I didn't sense Malchior escaping, so why is that part of the story missing?" Raven wondered, as he eyes scanned the pages and pictures that were still there. It was when her gaze landed on a picture of a countryside that something strange happened. Before she could react, Raven could feel herself getting drawn into the book. She didn't even have the chance to cry out before an incredibly strong wind wrapped around her, sucked her the rest of the way into the book, and slammed the book shut behind her. Raven's journey had begun.
