The Power of Love:Gambit/Rogue

(Note:Happens after a mission that hits too close to Rogue's heart)
Rogue sat on a bench in the garden,trying to understand what she was feeling and it was
not good.All she had on her mind was what she had seen during that day's mission.A part
of her wanted to cry and she almost did when she heard his voice.Rogue looks up and sees
Gambit through the pending teardrops."Need to talk chere" Gambit whispered in her
ear.Rogue tried to tell Gambit what she was feeling but the feelings became too much to
bear and the teardrops started to trickle down her cheek.At that moment,Gambit slipped
his arm around Rogue and tried to sooth her tears but all he could do was to let her
cry.Gambit gently whiped away a tear with his gloved hand and whispered to Rogue,"I'm
here chere".Over the next hour,Gambit tried to keep his own heart from breaking as
Rogue cried on his shoulder.Ever so often,he whispered tender I love you's into Rogue's
ear to let her know that he was there and that he cared about her.Rogue shivered from
the cold and asked Gambit,"Can we talk inside? I'm freezing". "Of course chere" Gambit
said as he slipped his arm around Rogue and the pair went inside.Once inside,Rogue
started to talk about what she had seen."I mean,it still hurts to remember what those
people went through when it brings back my own memories" she tells Gambit on the
couch.Rogue let herself sink into the warmth of Gambit's arms as they cuddled on the
couch.Gambit whispered in her ear,"You have to face your feelings and I'll be here for
you every step of the way".At that moment,Rogue slipped her gloved hand into Gambit's
and let the words sink into her heart."I do know one thing,that we have each other"
Rogue whispered back to Gambit.As the teardrops became quiet sobs,Rogue felt the true
power of the love between her and Gambit.As Rogue dozed off in Gambit's arms,he
kissed one finger of his hand and gentley pressed the finger to Rogue's cheek and
whispered the one thing that could help her,"I love you chere".At that moment,Rogure
whispered back,"I love you just as much swamp rat"
