I bring you a sad oneshot from the recesses of my inner mind. It comes from after listening to the Nightwish song, Angels Fall First. Bear with me if it's not that good.
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the story. Thank you.
The warm sunlight that once hung over the city of Domino now became storm clouds, blocking out the bright star, casting dark shadows. Rain pattered to the ground, thunder booming in higher altitudes. On a tall skyscraper, a lone figure stood on the edge, glancing down at the ground. His blue jacket that hung over his shoulders fluttered behind him, like a cape. His indigo eyes still scanned the ground as passerby and cars tried to escape from the rain that was now falling harder. Blonde bangs hung over his right eye, while his black and crimson hair spiked up, not seeming to dampen from the wet storm. Another figure, but was a bit smaller than the first, stood behind him, its bright indigo eyes filled with worry.
"Pharaoh, you don't need to do this," he whispered, moving closer. "You don't have to end your life this way." The Pharaoh slowly turned his head towards the boy, his eyes downcast.
"I'm sorry, Yugi…" he muttered, taking a small step towards the edge of the building. "It is my decision."
"There has to be another way!" Yugi cried out, lightning illuminating his frightened gaze behind him. Just as the Pharaoh was about to jump off the building, the slick rain caused him to slip. Before he fell too far, Yugi grabbed his hand, trying his hardest to pull him up.
"Just hold on, Pharaoh!" the boy shouted, thunder nearly drowning out his call to his friend. "I'll get you back up." As he struggled, the Pharaoh shook his head lightly. Tears were staring to fill Yugi's eyes as the grip was beginning to loosen.
"Aibou," the Pharaoh whispered, trying his hardest to keep a firm grip on the boy's hand. "I know that you may think that you can save me, but I have accepted my fate."
"No!" Yugi replied, grabbing hold of the Pharaoh's hand with his other. "I won't let you die!"
"I'm afraid it's too late for that. The truth is…" His voice grew softer, filled with sorrow. "I wanted to find the right time to tell you this. I love you." Yugi nearly let go of his friend's slippery palm, but regained himself.
"You really mean that, Pharaoh?" Yugi choked as more lightning struck above them. "Then, I wanted to say this to you. I love you, too." As he said this, one of his hands let go of the Pharaoh's own. He groaned as he still tried to pull the Pharaoh up to the roof.
"It's too late, aibou," the Pharaoh whispered, tears filling his eyes. "I'm sorry. Farewell, my koi." With that, he let go of Yugi's hand, falling down through the rain droplets to his demise.
"PHARAOH!" Yugi cried out, his hand still outstretched. He raced as fast as he could down the bottom of the building, only to find that paramedics were around the Pharaoh's body, examining it carefully. One of them spotted Yugi, calmly gesturing for the boy to see the body.
"I'm afraid that he's dead…" he whispered gently, letting Yugi approach the crumpled body, which was covered with wet blood. A red puddle surrounded the Pharaoh, the rain nearly destroying the blood. Yugi took hold of the Pharaoh's cold, limp hand, letting the tears he held back fall freely.
"I'm sorry," the paramedic replied, moving to grab a tarp from the ambulance.
"Pharaoh… forgive me," Yugi whispered as the workers covered the body with the white tarp. "I love you… Other Me…" As the paramedics moved to take the body to the ambulance, Yugi stood on the side, sobbing. Above him, sunlight peeked through the storm clouds, the rain lightening up a little. In the clouds, he saw the face of the Pharaoh, smiling down at him.
His love, his other self.
His friend.
