Josh looks for love - Chapter 3
Again, I don't own the characters or anything involving the show.
It's the early evening and Josh leads Brooke into his bedroom in his mother's apartment. They share some soda pop and then, get heavy under the sheets. Despite my ranking this chapter NC-17, I will not go into detail on Josh and Brooke's sex-capades. They finish making love and lie next to each other.
Josh: Brooke, I so still love you - that was great.
Brooke: (looks forlorn) Josh, look, it may have fulfilled you but I'm sorry to say it di d NOT fulfill me. (she caresses his cheek).
Josh: Brooke, I know you're just saying that. You HAVE to remember it all. I was your first. You were my first. Doesn't that count for anything ?
Brooke: Josh, I really do care for you - deeply - but not in the way we used to. I DON'T love you anymore.
Josh: But you could ? If you give the relationship a chance, I KNOW the feelings will come back. They've ALREADY come back for me.
Brooke: Josh, I'm in love with Sam - and I have to stress again that YOU'RE MARRIED. Didn't that mean anything to you, when you walked with Lily down that aisle ?
Josh: Brooke, you KNOW why Lily and I got married - so we could both stay in this town together. It was a marriage of convenience.
Brooke: No, Josh, marriage means more than that - a LOT more. And, if you can't take marriage seriously, how am I supposed to take YOU seriously ?
Josh: Please, Brooke - just tell me you still have feelings for me ? Please ?
Brooke gets out of the bed and starts to get dressed.
Brooke: Josh, I have to go home.
Josh: To Sam, right ? You have to go home to Sam. Brooke, what kind of future would you have with Sam ? The 2 of you can't have kids together. You can't get married. Well, maybe, in this town.
Brooke: (fully clothed) Josh, I think you need to do a little soul searching, and give Lily another try. (She exits the house. Josh lays awake in bed, thinking).
The next morning, Sam and Lily are talking outside the school when Josh pulls up and parks his car. Josh comes over to them.
Sam: (sees him coming). Uh-oh, looks like trouble.
Josh: Sam, I'm not going to hurt anyone. I just have to talk to Lily for a moment.
Sam: Be my guest - I'll see you in class, Lil. (Sam leaves).
Josh: Lily, I've been a cad.
Lily: DAMN RIGHT YOU'VE BEEN ! And now, what, you're crawling back to me ?
Josh: Lily, just hear me out. I won't dismiss my feelings for Brooke, but there WERE lots of reasons that I married you. Most of all, It's because I fell in love with you.
Lily: (the tears beginning to show) Well, I believe you're finally coming to your senses.
Josh: Come on, Lil. Don't make this harder than it has to be.
Lily: Well, do you love me or do you NOT ? Josh, I HAVE to know ?
Josh comes to her and takes her in his arms.
Josh: Yes, Lily, I still love you very much and I'm sorry I hurt you. I'm willing to try again to make this work, if you're also willing.
Lily: (through tears) Yes, Josh, I am willing. (She puts her cheek into his chest).
Josh: (lifts up her face and looks into her eyes) I consider myself the luckiest man in the world to have you as my wife.
Lily: (tears flowing) and I consider myself lucky to have you as my husband. (she sniffs back tears). Now, can we stop the mushy stuff and get to class ?
Josh: Yes, Lily. Boy, Bio Glass is going to have a field day with us.
Lily smiles and they walk off into the school or, into the sunset, if you will.
