Alright, so this is my first story for Hetalia, and it was actually inspired by a funeral I went to recently.

This is just an idea I had on why Italy and Romano ended up with Grandpa Rome (In an AU of course, I have no idea what historically came between Rome and Italy, besides maybe the Italian city states, but I always assumed that Italy was originally the city state of Venice, and Romano was the city state of Rome...Sorry, I'm rambling.)

Disclaimer: I own nothing. If I did, I wouldn't be writing Fanfictions.

Lovina was the older sibling, and she took her job very seriously. Sure, she was only older by one year, but Felicia was just so stupid. Lovina might has well been ten compared to Feli.

As the older sister, it was her job to protect Feli at all costs. This was why Lovina was determinedly not upset, despite the two mahogany caskets laying in front of them.

The two mahogany caskets that held her parents...

Whatever, she still was not going to cry, because Feli was crying and she was the older sister, and she was a wonderful older sister, just ask anyone.

…..on second thought, don't. That stupid French idiot would probably say she wasn't just to mess with her.

But he was stupid anyway, so his opinion didn't matter...What was she saying? Oh yah, she was a wonderful sister, and that was why she was squeezing Feli's hand. Because Feli was upset, and she was comforting her. It had nothing to do with Lovina, because she was fine, thank you very much.

It wasn't like she was upset, because that would be ridiculous. Lovina did not get upset. So what if her parents were dead? It wasn't like...like...never mind. She didn't have to explain why everything was okay. It just was. Got it?

Person after person paraded past the sisters, as they offered "condolences". Lovina wasn't entirely sure what a condolence was, but it sounded stupid. And if Lovina said it was stupid, it was. That was just the way the world worked.

Besides, all the people said was how sorry they were, and then they cried. And hugged. Some of the really annoying ones even hugged while they cried. It made Lovina want to throw something. Itwasn't like these people were really sorry anyway. No one cared that Lovina had lost her parents. They were all too concerned with the fact that they had lost a friend.

Dimly, Lovina could hear another idiot offer more "condolences" to her Nonno. The girl set her jaw. She was going to ignore this person the same way she ignored the rest of them. They were all stupid. Despite her decision, the man's words invaded her ears. Totally not her fault.

"Look at you two, being so brave. I just want you both to know that your parents are in heaven now, and that they'll always be watching over you." Beside her, Feli sniffled and smiled at the man, before another wave of tears crashed behind her eyes.

Mechanically, Lovina rubbed what she hoped where comforting circles on the back of her sisters hand.

Another hour passed, and what seemed like a bazillion more people tried to talk to the two girls. By the time they were in the car, Nonno and Feli had both cried enough tears to last until Lovina turned twelve. Maybe even more than that. The brunette herself however, had not cried once. She was the older sister, and if that meant that she couldn't cry, she just wouldn't. Feli was too fragile to have Lovina lean on her.

So, what did you think? Any and all comments are welcome (and appreciated)

Also, I'm pretty sure its obvious, but just in case
