She tries to tune it out but it's getting harder and harder. Tears are threatening to spill. Her mind keeps going back to the conversation she had with her father

You have no self worth

Your boyfriend is going to break up with you one day

If you were smart you would stop being an idiot

Beck saw Jade was looking really upset and so did Tori.

"Go on," Tori told him, "Talk to her"

"I'd rather not. She called you a mean thing," Beck said
You are a loser
You've got no friends
Nobody cares about you

"Do you ever wonder why she does it," Tori asked.

"It doesn't matter," Beck said, "There's no excuse"
Beck was stunned when later that same night he dropped Jade off at her house. She was still quiet and upset but he thought she was being dramatic. That was when he heard her father berating her.
The worst thing that ever happened to me was your mother gave birth to you. You're a pathetic lowlife. You are only alive because I got plastered one night and did your mom. She didn't even want you. She gave you up. Nobody wants you. I tried Jade I really did. But you are just too worthless.
Beck had enough. He couldn't believe this was what Jade put up with every day.

"NO," he said coming into her house.
She had given him the key.

"Excuse me son," her father said.

"I cannot believe you would have the NERVE to talk to your daughter like that," Beck said, "Who do you think you are. You think that just because you are her father that means you can talk to her like that. You son of a bitch. Jade is NOT anything you say about her. She is beautiful and strong and she has been hurt far too many times. Sometimes I forget how precious and wonderful she is because all I see a lot of times is her tough side but believe me if I had known what she went through every damn day I would never treat her like I did this evening. I would never have gotten so impatient with her. You know what I'm going to take her back to my RV and you will never see her again."

"Good," her father said, "You'd be doing me a favor"
With that Jade left her father's house forever.

Jade was silent in the car.

"Jade," he said, "Honey I always thought you were being dramatic. I never understood what that man does to you."

"He hates me," Jade said, "He's always hated me and I don't know why?"

"I'll tell you why he hates you. He hates you because he's a moron. Look I am so sorry about not understand that. I wish I did but Jade your father does not know his ass from his elbow if he could think that about you."

"Why do you get mad at me," Jade asked.

"To be honest," Beck said, "I didn't see what was going on in your life. I thought you were just being bitchy and mean and that you enjoyed embarrassing Tori."
Jade sighed but this time it was in relief. She finally felt safe.
