And when you come back...
Sucky title, I know. But, this is a sappy story. And sappy stories always have those gross little titles, so I guess it'll work.... - -*
George clung to Fred, weeping. "No. Don't leave. Please...." George cried into his twin. Fred tried to stay calm. He didn't want to cry, but he felt a few tears escape anyways. "I love you....." George continued to weep into Fred's chest. "Don't you see that? Don't you love me too? You said we would always be together. You promised me." Fred wiped a tear from his eyes and gently pushed George away from his chest.
"Look at me." Fred said. George continued to glare at the ground, the way he always would when things didn't go his way. Fred had always found it so endearing; so adorable. He would miss that little glare for sure.
Fred placed his finger under George's chin and made him look up at him. "George, I love you. You know that I do, and that I always have, and that I always will. All these twenty years I've loved only you. But I need to go." He whispered soothingly to his twin. George continued to cry and didn't respond.
"I need to go. Just for a while." Fred whispered. George rubbed his arms for warmth. The night was cold and he started to get a sneaking feeling that they were being watched. He looked down one side of the alley and then the other. Of course, there was no one there. No one ever came down this alley. All the stores had been shut down and it was three in the morning.
"Fred. You promise to come back, right? You won't be gone forever?" George whined. Fred smiled and kissed George lightly on the lips.
"Of course I'll come back. I couldn't live with out you. You are the one person to ever understand me, and I could never leave you for too long." Fred whispered to George. George flung his arms around Fred and rested his head on his brother's shoulder.
The next morning Fred woke up and George was still clinging on to him, as if it was their last day alive. Fred's chest was wet and sticky with George's tears. While George slept on Fred ran his fingers through his hair, and tried to remember every little detail about him. They might have been twins, but it always seemed to him that George looked more innocent, more beautiful.
When George stirred in his sleep Fred sat up straight, waking his twin. "Lemme leep lon'er..." George muttered, sitting up. Fred smiled and stood up. By the time George was fully awake and could comprehend what was happening, Fred had slipped out the door and was on his way somewhere.
