*SPOILER ALERT*
IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE HUNGER GAMES MOVIE AND FINISHED THE FIRST BOOK I SUGGEST YOU DON'T READ THIS YET.
this is the end scene from the movie, with Seneca Cranes POV
The two Peacekeepers guided Seneca Crane down the long hall towards a closed door. The President had said he had something for him. The 74th Annual Hunger Games had ended, with 2 Victors instead of one; they had changed the rule in the middle of the games to 2 victors then back to one at the end. The last male and female tributes had been known as "The star-crossed lovers of District 12" they had pulled out nightlock–A poisonous berry –and they had threatened to eat it and commit suicide when the rule changed back to one victor only. Seneca had then told Claudius Templesmith to announce that they could both win. Two star-crossed lovers as the victors? The Capitol would love it!
Then he recalled what snow had said to him the other day.
"Hope, it is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous," he had said.
"Spark is fine, as long as it's contained. So, contain it," Snow had warned him.
Suddenly Seneca realized, why hadn't he thought of it before? So, contain it Snow had said to him. But he hadn't. District 11 had already killed many peacekeepers, they had rebelled. He hadn't contained the spark. He started sweating, and then there were 2 victors instead of one. He looked up at both the peacekeepers. Their faces were blank as usual. Seneca turned, they had reached the large metal door.
The Peacekeepers ushered him inside hastily and closed the door behind him. Seneca Looked around. President Snow wasn't there. It was just an empty room. Plain red walls with gold lining, wood floors, and one lone window, looking down upon the shining Capitol. the only object in the room was a table, a crystal bowl sitting in the middle of it with something inside. Seneca didn't bother to look in it, he went back to the door to go out and wait for the President outside, it was getting stuffy in here, and the Head Gamemaker shouldn't be treated this way.
But the Door was locked. Seneca suddenly felt nervous and walked towards the table to see what was in the bowl. Inside of it were berries. They looked indigo and about a handful of them were sitting together in the bowl. He was probably supposed to eat it while he waited for Snow, if he got hungry. He felt puzzled. He peered closer into the bowl to get a better look at them. His eyes widened and he felt a rush of fear as he recognized the berries.
Nightlock.
So, contain it, Snow had warned.
