Disclaimer: I don't own One Piece. But this poem is MY PROPERTY, since there are no actual references to One Piece in this work.
Dedication: To Mr. O, who assigned the "poetry packet" that led to the writing of this poem—although I never turned this specific poem in, heh
A/N: I wrote this poem about two years ago but felt extremely dissatisfied with it. But after rereading it recently, I realized that its theme fit extremely well with One Piece. So, here you go. Enjoy, and please R&R!
Secrets of the Sea
He breathes in with all his might;
The raw, salty air stings his lungs,
But he does not care.
As the wild wind whips at his face and tattered clothes,
It sweeps up the pale sand at his feet,
Tickling his skin.
His laughter soars across waves that dance
As if they were given a gull's wings;
His vocal expression of joy flies beside the graceful birds.
He closes his eyes,
His dark lashes brushing his red cheeks,
Colored by the chilly air.
He needs not listen too hard;
Needs not strain to hear
The ocean's gentle whisper.
The secrets of the sea.
