The Unexpected Hero

*Thump* I hit the wall. "You useless brat. Why can't you do anything right?" Jeb, my father, shouted repeatedly kicking me in the stomach. I let out a cry of pain. "Get up and make me dinner." He demanded after breaking my ribs. I get up and make him something quick and easy. I left it on the table for him then went up to my 'room' and go to bed. The only things in my room are a mattress, a box full of my clothes and a first aid kit. I woke up at six, made Jeb breakfast then got ready and out of the house as quietly as possible. I took a few breaths and then legged it.
I got to school breathing heavily. Making my way to my locker without looking hurt or having trouble breathing I saw the Head-hunter (principal) showing a kid practically wearing black. I had to stop to catch my breath and stop my dizziness. "Max? Are you ok?" I would have nodded if I hadn't passed out then and there. The last thing I remember was an unknown voice shouting my name and a pair of really warm arms catch me.
I woke up in a hospital bed surrounded by the kid wearing black, the head-hunter, my two best friends, which one was bright red and looked ready to kill, Kate and Rhydian. "Max are you ok?" Rhydian asked.
"My ribs feel like they are broken." I stated thinking of what Jeb would do when I get home. "And I don't mean to be rude but who are you?"
"Fang Venom." He explained what happen after I passed out and that Jeb was pissed that I was not coming home, in other words his living punching bag will not be there for him to take his anger out on. The others left at around five. "So how did you get the broken ribs? If I may ask?"
"Yea you can ask. My father, Jeb, abuses me, to put it short." Fang looked horrified and I would too if that was someone saying that and not me.
I stayed there in the hospital for 2 more weeks then I was dreading the next day that comes. Fang had stayed by my side all through that and we became the best of friends, though sometimes I think he only pities me. The next day Fang took me home. When I got out of the car, I most certainly didn't expect him to get out as well. I sent him a questioning look, which he shrugged at. When I got inside I was greeted with Jeb punching me in the face. He went to punch me again when a hand stopped him.
"I wouldn't do that if I was you." Fang growled dangerously. Truth be told it scared me and it takes a lot to scare me. Jeb looked pissed, then even more pissed when he heard the sirens. He went to run for it but Fang knocked him down. The cops came, arrested him then asked where I was going to stay. "Can she stay with us, dad." Fang said from behind me making me jump since I didn't realise he was there.
"Wait, dad?" The cop I guess Mr Venom. Now that just sounds weird.
"Oh, right. Max this is my dad, Seth Venom. Dad this is Maximum Ride."
"Nice to meet you Max even if it isn't under good circumstances and yes she can live with us." With that I took Fang to my 'room' considering he insisted that he help me pack. We packed my stuff and went to Fangs both Fang and Seth were surprized at how little stuff I had. I meet Isis Venom, Fang's mother, who welcomed me with opened arms and it sure feels great living in a house without been punch and not having to cook. Jeb was sent 20 years in prison and I lived with Fang and his family.
