Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, if I did...Draco Malfoy would've proclaimed his love for Hermione already.

Enjoy!! ^_^

Afternoon Surprise

She sat there and stared at him from across the courtyard, watching as he intently fiddle with a muggle Rubik's cube, solving and un-solving the contraption. She thought he looked so peaceful, his brows weren't furrowed despite the complexities involved in solving the cube, instead he sat there smiling, as though he was remembering something sweet or funny; something that would have seemed very out of place a few years ago. She wished that she could simply and slowly saunter up to him, her shadow casting over him, causing him to look up and as he did so, she would kiss him. Long, slow, and softly, so that she could both savor his lips and show him the depth and trueness of her love for him.

But she was absolutely certain that while he knew she existed, he didn't know that she lived and breathed only for him. But she was also sure that if he knew that, than he didn't care; she was after all, nothing, just a simple, plain mudblood. She was no beauty, nor was she ugly; she was…average in her looks. Small lips, a proportional nose and eyes the color of a regular dark brown chocolate. She may not have had looks but she had her intelligence and a talent for words.

It stemmed from being a bookworm as a child, since she wasn't very good at making friends, she made books her friends; delving into them with hunger, devouring each book, word by word. Even now, her unquenchable thirst for knowledge only led her to read more books.

That and her love were all that she could offer him. He, on the hand, was intelligent, charismatic, and funny and could be both a loner and a socialite. And he was also the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. Steel grey eyes with flecks of blue in them that could stare through her and into her soul, medium length blonde hair that appeared soft and sleek, thin, soft-looking lips and a thin masculine build.

But if only she could make him notice her somehow, if only she could make him see how much she loved him and how much she desperately wanted to be his. She sighed and decided to stop thinking of him, choosing instead to close her eyes from the wondrous sight in front of her and tilt her head back, enjoying the warmth of the sun on her skin, delving into daydreams of her grey-eyed prince.

After ten minutes, however, she no longer felt the sun's warm rays tickling her skin and lighting up her eyelids, causing colors to dance as she watched with closed eyes. Curious, she opened her eyes to be met with her prince's shimmering steel gaze.

She opened her mouth to say something, deciding against it and shutting her mouth instead. He said nothing to her but instead, lifted her to her feet, turned her head up towards him and kissed her.

He kissed her with all the passion she had hoped to show him. He pulled away then, when he was sure she realized how he felt for her. "I love you," he whispered to her, capturing her lips again.
