The Bar and the Bards

Adventuring's hard, with sweat I am sticky.

Spending the day fighting monsters so icky.

I approach a tavern, my throat is so parched,

So I enter the place, ducking under the arch.

The rum is good, but I still want more.

My spirit is leaving, going out body's door.

When I hear the string of a harp, the sound of a lute,

A drum and piano, along with a flute.

The music, their voices, they brighten my day,

My fatigue's overturned, it's going away.

Of avatars, stones, they sing it all.

The sound of adventure, I hear its call.

Yet I cannot leave while the music still plays,

They'll have to wait, my foes the foul knaves.

So I sit down in silence, music fills my soul.

And my former weariness no longer takes toll.

A/N

My skepticism towards Shroud of the Avatar is unfortunately the same as every other Kickstarter campaign I've seen - nice idea, but the results remain to be seen. And if Star Citizen is Wing Commander/Freelancer 2.0, then Shroud of the Avatar is certainly Ultima 2.0. Still, it's not without merit - liked the music idea, which gave the idea for this poem.
