Empty. The one word that stuck out to him when he first saw her again. The one word that he would have never thought her to become was what had taken over her entire being. The war ended two years ago and the dark lord had prevailed. Unfortunately once Harry Potter was proclaimed dead everyone on the side of the chosen one had begun to lose hope. Even the spark of the two other members was dimmed when they realized they no longer had their fearless leader. Once the hope diminished so did their chances of winning the war. The Order was infiltrated one week later and the dark lord claimed victory within the month having thousands of muggle born witches and wizards killed. Draco had thought for sure that she was along the many who had become casualties of the insane man that now ruled over the entire wizarding world.
She had always been the apple of his eyes even though she never knew and likely would never know, but seeing her in the manor for the second time being tortured was like watching a person he miraculously cared a lot about be struck by lighting twice. He never thought he would ever see her again, he thought she was dead, but now he was transported back in time to while the light side still had a chance of winning the war. He was taken back to the time where he had to stand idly by as his aunt; his own flesh and blood tortured the one girl who had always been his perfect match. He didn't realize it fully till that day, Hermione and he we soul mates they fit together perfectly. He knew she would be the only girl to ever be able to keep up with him on all levels, intellectually he would be the only one to be able to keep up with her as well. That day was the first day of the rest of his life. That was the day he knew the dark lord would triumph over Harry Potter. Draco knew before anyone else, he knew this because he knew that Hermione was the real hero out of the golden trio. Seeing her lying helpless sealed the fate of the wizarding world. Once her spirit was broken there was way to rebuild something that had been so unceremoniously beaten out of her.
Back to the present day Hermione was in nearly the same situation that she had been that day. She was in his house. Why she was there? He had no idea but in that moment he knew that he would do anything to see the fire spark in her eyes again, he would do anything to get back his Hermione.
