The tears fell freely as Rhaelynn circled her love. She had to kill him. He had lost all sanity and was no longer here with her. This, thing in front of her only looked like him. Aiden was lost forever in Oblivion.
Rhaelynn fanned out pure white wings behind her as she floated on the air; he lunged at her and missed by a hair's length. "Rhaelynn, give up, you cannot win! You can't even come near me with the blade!" Aiden leered, his black, bat-like wings flapping behind him.
He was right, it was her way to show mercy, and now she was no different. She knew he had been showing her no mercy, and that she would have to do the same if she was going to come out of this alive.
"You're right, I cannot harm Aiden," she looked at him with her green eyes, "but you are not Aiden." She lunged at him and he dodged her attack, bringing his sword down on one of her wings. She cried out in agony as she beat her other wing to keep herself in the air. She looked at him then, his black hair falling to his shoulders, his obsidian eyes depthless, and his pale skin translucent. His wings would have been gorgeous if he were still an Angel instead of one of the Fallen.
"You forget I am Aiden, just not the Aiden you remember." He said with a wicked smirk, she shook her head and went for him again, this time her sword caught his shoulder. He cried out, mostly in anger, and pulled back, holding his new wound.
"I'm sorry I have to do this Aiden, I never wanted to, know that." She slashed at him and sliced his torso, he stumbled back from this, but he laughed.
"I'm not sorry at all, so don't lose too much sleep on it, right? That is, if I you do somehow beat me." He went at her, impaling her with his sword. She just looked at him, gasping for air, tears falling, and plunged her sword right into his chest. He looked shocked, and then he groaned in pain. He smoothed his expression and smiled at her. "Wasn't expecting us both to lose, seems we were a match made in," he coughed, "Hell." He chuckled darkly as they both fell to the ground.
"I wasn't expecting to live through an ordeal like this." She admitted. Her heart had broken in two. She was already dying, but she had to keep her promise: the promise that when he fell into Oblivion she would rid the world of a monster, and since she had kept her promise, she could die in peace. "I was dying anyways."
"I- I know." They were both gasping for air now, one of them coughing up blood every once in a while.
"I- l-lo-ove yo-you, know that." She stuttered as she let out the last of her breath. Aiden just stared at her coldly, waiting to die and wondering why an Angel like her would ever fall in love with one of the Fallen Ones, knowing what the outcome would be before even going into a relationship. Aiden died soon after Rhaelynn, and they were mourned for as two Angels, instead of one Angel, and a Fallen.
