*I do not own Jane and the Dragon or its characters
Not sure where this idea sprang from, but I thought it was cute. Anyway, special thanks to SunRise19, anon, SkyeElf, Amelle Kyre, and everyone else who reads my fics. Hope you like it!
Standing on a small chair, Gunther warned Jane."You better not drop me"
With a treacherous smile on her face, she lied "Trust me, I would not dare think of it"
Gunther was skeptical, but he jumped anyway. It was a small leap, but it did not mean that small distance from the chair to the ground did not hurt. As the cloud of dust settled, he looked up to see Jane trying to hide a laugh, but failing miserably. "Hey I thought you were not going to drop me?"
"The same way I thought you were going to be nice"
Rubbing his lower back, Gunther looked at his mentor skeptically, questioning the point of it all "Sir Theodore, what is the point of this exercise?"
Helping Gunther to his feet, Sir Theodore flashed Jane a stern look, silently rebuking her."It is a trust exercise, you two must learn to trust each by catching one another"
"But Jane looks heavy" Gunther complained
"There are no exceptions"
Stepping on to the chair, Jane did not like the idea of Gunther letting her fall or worse, the thought of being in Gunther's arms.
Holding out his arms, he let out a frustrated groan and urged her on. "Come on"
"Never" she retorted
Jane was such an annoyingly stubborn creature, and such a waste of a girl who could be doing better things then smelling of smoke and chopping wood at least that was his current opinion which was always changing according to his daily squabbles with his fellow knight. Just like now as he continues to holds his arms out, he thought of how he could have been doing anything else but be standing there like a fool. "We will never finish if you do not jump" he complained
"How could I trust you?"
"Come on, my arms are getting tired"
"Just give me a moment to prepare myself"
"Any day now Jane"
It was a small leap, but he caught her just like he said. Strangely he was stronger then he looked and Jane lighter then he thought. His gray eyes met her green ones for a moment and he thought that she did not look so bad for a girl. It was shocking enough that he kept his word, but even more so that he looked so fascinating up close. Sir Theodore wondered what brought on the sudden silence, but it was disturbing in its own way. "That will be enough for you both today" he said
Letting Jane go, she fell on her bum while Gunther walked away pretending Jane was not pretty for a moment. Mentally Jane reprimanded herself for giving allowance to such thoughts while Sir Theodore chuckled at the thought of the development of a new conquest.
