*When I woke up this morning*
*Wiped the sleep from my eyes*
Giles sat up quickly in his bed, sweat pouring down his face. The dream. It
had ben so awful. So real. Jenny had been running through the school. Running
from what, he didn't know. Thank God it wasn't real. Jenny was safe, lying in
the bed next to him. He turned to say something to her when he realized she
wasn't there.
*I found a new day dawning*
*When suddenly I realized*
*Your gone*
He felt his heart sink as he jumped out of bed, taking the stairs two at a
time. Jenny wouldn't leave without a note. Not with Angelus on the loose.
There were signs downstairs that Jenny had been there at all last night.
Suddenly it all came back to him. The rose petals scattered on the floor and
up the stairs. Jenny lying on his bed, unmoving. Her glassy stare fixed on
the ceiling. He fell to his knees as the tears came. "No," he whispered.
"No.''
*Tell me I was dreaming*
*Tell me that you didn't leave me here to cry*
*You didn't say you don't love me anymore*
*It was just my imagination telling lies*
*Tell me that you didn't say goodbye*
Two hearts were breaking in Sunnydale that morning. Two hearts that would
never know the pain the other felt.
*I'm in a state of confusion*
*I hope things aren't what they seem*
Buffy sat on her bed. The claddaugh ring Angel had given her for her 16th
birthday held tightly in her grasp. She could still hear his words when he
gave it to her. "The hands are for friendship. The crown is for loyalty. Wear
it with the heart pointing to you. It means you belong to somebody." Buffy
threw the ring across the room. Heard the small clatter it made as it fell
behin her dresser.
*If this is really happening*
*Just let me go back to dream*
*Your home*
She buried her face in her pillow. Masking the sounds. The screams. His
name. The last thing she needed was her mom to come in here. How could Angel,
the sweetest, most romantic man she knew, come from Angelus. A cold-blooded
killer with no conscience. She opened the drawer in her nightstand and pulled
out a stake. She stood up and crawled out the window. She would take care of
Angelus once and for all.
*Tell me I was dreaming*
*Tell me that you didn't leave me here to cry*
*You didn't say you don't love me anymore*
*It was just my imagination telling lies*
